Passover Diet Crankiness
Passover is the celebration of the Israelites graining freedom from the Egyptians, some 3600 years ago. During the celebration we are to relive that liberation every year. The hardest part for me is the diet. Instead of feeling liberated, many years I often feel enslaved by it. This year I hope to do better and embrace it, and feel liberated.
The Passover diet is full of restrictions the most notable are: no bread, no pasta, no corn which includes corn starch and corn syrup, no rice, no legumes which includes no peanut or soy products. In essence It’s a very clean diet. But the bread, pasta, and corn restrictions tend to make me cranky. I am hoping that I do better this year, cranky does not become me.

As a runner, I can see how the Passover Diet would be really tough on you! What will you be using as your main carb source? Don’t hope you’ll do better - make SURE you do better!
Get some strategies lined up to remind you of why you are doing this in the first place and find pleasure in this new challenge!

Thank you for the comment on my blog. This week I get no carbs, I can totally feel your pain! I get cranky and short with my 6 year old daughter, try brushing out knots when you are like this!!! I have been able to somehow find inner peace this time. (I tried the diet for the heck of it a year ago and didn’t fare well on no carbs) It is what it is! You will get through it and survive. I just take a moment and breath when I start to feel the pressure. Peace. J~

You could try kumara or potato (or are they not allowed either) as you carb sources. Or oats.

(belated) Happy Passover, my friend! That definitely is a very restrictive diet, but are potatoes or sweet potatoes allowed, by chance?

Potatoes and Sweet potatoes are permitted. I’m also fighting 48 years of history and memories.

Sounds like the diet most people on this site is on already! Restrictions are no fun…they just make you want them more!!!
Happy Earth day, too!
