Yesterday afternoon, after working all day on about 4 hours of sleep, I dragged my but into the gym and I had an awesome workout. 30 minutes of hard and fast on the elliptical followed by 30 minutes of hard lifting. In the past I’ve always been ‘safe’ when lifting, making sure I never try to lift more than I can without a spotter. And I never have a spotter. I decided that I wasn’t pushing myself. Yesterday I did. I pushed until my arms shook and I thought I’d drop the dumbbell on my head. My form was 95% great, right up until that last press, where is suffered as I pushed through it. It felt great.
I have started using the Melatonin as it was recommended to me and it works great. No more waking up for me ever other hour. Now I just need to make sure I go to bed earlier. I’ve also stopped using the anti-depressants I’ve been prescribed. I think trading those drugs for working out will be a lot better for me.

Had a shitty work-out this morning. I blame the lack of sleep I’ve had the past couple of nights. I’ve done everything I can think of to go to sleep. I did it twice in one night! And still I’m waking up every other hour.
This morning’s gym time felt waisted. I pushed myself through the workout, but I felt like I was stuck in 2nd gear the whole time. Lethargic and weak. And I had a sharpe pain right behind my right collar bone that had me worried.
Tonight is my second Yoga class. Hopefully I’ll feel better by then.

My on again, off again relationship to the gym is over. I’m making the final commitment.
The past few weeks I’ve been trying to go the gym 4 - 5 times a week, focusing mainly on cardio, getting a little back into liifting. Today, on the advice of my shrink, I joined the YMCA in order to take advantage of thier Yoga classes. Today I took my first Yoga class. Not bad. Much work to do.
And now to bed for a good nights sleep and up before the sun.
