There has been talk and rumors flying about that Florian would get his shot at Lightweight Title very soon. That time will finally come in August at UFC 101.
WOW!, After a huge event like UFC 100 and the first ever Fans Expo the UFC keeps coming strong with an amazing show starting to form a month later at UFC101.
After Penn’s lost to St. Pierre not to long back, at UFC 94, people started wondering when BJ was going tao have to defend his Lightweight Belt.
It is now official and Kenny Florian will get his shot to take the Lightweight Belt from BJ Penn in August.
Florian has won his last six fights and has been very impressive since his last attempt at the Lightweight Title against Sean Sherk at UFC 64.
Penn has been undefeated since his return to the UFC in the Lightweight Category and has had some very impressive wins over Stevenson and Pulver and of course his win over "The Muscle Shark".
Looking at these two and how they are fighting should turn out to be an awesome fight come August. Will BJ be even more furious then usual after the GSP controversy or can Florian show the world he has what it takes to take on one of the best lightweights to ever step into the octogon.
There are many rumors about some other great fights so check back and we will kep you updated with more to come on UFC 100 and 101!

UFC Fight Night 18
It will be The Hitman versus The Natural Born Killer as The Ultimate Fighting Championship set its sights on Nashville Tennessee this Wednesday night.
Former WEC welterweight champion Carlos “The Natural Born Killer” Condit will make his UFC debut as he faces Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann, its UFC Fight Night 18 April 1st live on SPIKE TV.
The night of fights will usher in the newest season of “The Ultimate Fighter USA VS UK,” and will feature many of the fighters that competed in past seasons of TUF. Ryan Bader, who won last seasons title, will be in action against Carmelo Marerro. Tyson Griffin will face Rafael dos Anjos and Junie Browning will meet up with Cole Miller.
With no easy fights in the UFC, Carlos Condit will have his hands full with any of the UFC welterweights; Martin Kampmann is no exception.
As a middleweight, Kampmann earned a 4-1 record with his lone loss coming to Nate Marquardt at UFC 88. The Xtreme Couture fighter will be making his second appearance in the welterweight class after he earned a TKO victory over another UFC newcomer, Alexander Barros.
Ranked by many observers as a top ten welterweight, Carlos Condit boasts notable victories over Frank Trigg, John Alessio and Brock Larson. He’s compiled an impressive record of 22-4 and is currently riding an eight-fight win streak.
Both fighters are very well rounded and equally matched. Kampmann is a known commodity within the UFC community and it might be the X factor. Condit will undoubtedly feel the pressure to put on a great performance for his debut. With those big light jitters and the fact that he has recently switched training camps, he might have too much on his mind to come out victorious.
It should be a great fight with the winner inching closer to top five contention.

For Krzysztof Soszynski, fast ones can be pulled but preferably thrown
By: Chuck Mindenhall
Krzysztof Soszynski is called the Polish Experiment, and that seems valid in the way that Shelley’s Frankenstein became a freakish something that could only be described as a monster. For one thing, he is increasingly large for a light heavyweight; having at one time weighed 300 pounds as a professional wrestler, he now walks around at 225 as a mixed martial artist. He’s got two full sleeves of tattoos and a head that would have phrenologists scratching theirs. With three “z’s” in his name, he leads the UFC in reporter misspellings.
At first glance, just about everything to do with the 31-year-old Polish-Canadian is an imposition. That is, until you get to his voice, which has slight traces of a Manitoba accent—the Fargo trick of converting o’s to ew’s—and carries a higher pitch than you’d expect.
(This last bit has nothing to do with the six low blows Alex Andrade delivered Soszynski a year ago in New Jersey to disqualify himself. It’s a sober fact that Soszynski had the voice pre-Andrade).
“Before I started doing Jiu-Jitsu about six years ago, I was doing pro wrestling and was really jacked, really muscular,” says the one-time body-builder of his nickname. “But when I started rolling with the guys, they noticed my cardio was great for somebody 295 pounds. Somebody said, ‘man, you’re like an experiment,’ and the name just stuck.”
And so has his commitment to the Octagon.
Soszynski (17-9-1) had long been toiling in the softer lit theaters such as the IFL and the Ring of Combat for years before his stint on The Ultimate Fighter 8 showcased his wares. When he got the call to be on the show, he was already fighting out of Team Quest in Temecula, California with Dan Henderson and the eventual opponent who ended his run on the show, Vinicius Magalhaes. His ground-and-pound reputation preceded him on the show, but it was his sense of humor that raised eyebrows around him.
Some might think the fast ones he pulled on his castmates during the season were a window into his personality. Soszynski doesn’t—he reasons it was more a necessary measure to stay sane.
“It was me just being bored,” he says. “I was bored as hell. I wasn’t going to turn to the drinking, that’s not my style—I don’t like alcohol. It was just a way to make the time go by quicker. That six-week stay in the house is just a mental mess, and if you have the head for it you’ll survive, and if not—like some of the guys in the past—you won’t.”
Soszynski was ultimately submitted by his teammate Vinny in the semi-finals but was able to bounce back from the loss by winning his official UFC debut this past December in Las Vegas against Shane Primm. The Kimura that he got Primm to tap with was pretty memorable for Soszynski, but . . .
Ask him about it and he’ll instead go into graphic detail about the walk out to the Octagon and terrifying spotlight that blazed a hole in his back as realizations began crowding over him.
“That fight was very, very mentally draining for me,” he says. “I fought before on many of the top shows in front of 10,000 or 12,000 people, but this was the UFC, the biggest show in the world. On the walk up I was probably the most scared I’ve ever been in my life. You’re so excited to be here and you don’t want to let anybody down.”
And his white-knuckle affair lasted the majority of that initial round—five minutes that felt like two hours.
“I can see why when guys are in their first UFC fight they get a little gun shy and things like that, and I felt it in the first round,” he says. “I think I fought with my teeth clenched and I was holding my breath for the first two or three minutes of the first round. That’s how nervous I was.”
When Soszynski recounts the experience, it’s clear that he’s relieved that it’s all now a shrinking image in his rearview mirror. For one thing, he triumphed over his fears and finished Primm. For another, well, the debutante jitters now transfer to his opponent at UFC 97 on April 18 in Montreal.
Brian Stann—a Captain in the US Marine Corps who earned a Silver Star for valor in Iraq—will trade his well-used WEC gloves for a new pair of UFC ones. Stann (6-1) is the former WEC Light Heavyweight champion. He is a relentless striker who has stopped five of the six opponents he faced in the WEC, and the one he lost—the last against Steve Cantwell in August—he went down swinging against. To this day he holds the record for the shortest fight in WEC history when he obliterated Miguel Cosio in 16 seconds.
With very literal combat in his background, Stann’s nerves may not rattle as easily as Soszynski’s, but he will be belting in front of Soszynski’s countrymen in Canada as part of the main card at a mercilessly live event. It won’t be Rocky in Russia for Stann, but close—and Soszynski knows it.
Given these facts, it’s no surprise that The Polish Experiment expects to see some leather being thrown his way early and often.
“I definitely think Stann’s going to come out blazing,” he says. “I think he’s going to come out and stand in front of me and trade and I’m going to do the same with him. He’s got a good right hand and he’s aggressive. I wouldn’t be surprised if the fight goes to the ground eventually, with either me on top or him on top, but we’re both strikers. We both like to bang, and I’m pretty sure that’s what you’re going to see at the beginning of the fight.”
Forget about don’t blink—these types of fights always lend optimism to fighters on the prelims hoping to end up on pay-per-view air. There will be more than a roaring house of the Québécois cheering big things from Soszynski’s hands—there will be those backstage hoping for a few fireworks, too.
And then there’s a little history between Soszynski and Stann: Both trained up at Oscar De La Hoya’s former compound in snowy confines of Big Bear Lake for five weeks when Sosz was helping Dan Henderson prepare for Anderson Silva, and Stann was training for his title shot with Doug Marshall.
Soszynski remembers a very nice guy with very mean tenacity.
“Yeah, we got to train together, spar and grapple and all that stuff,” he says. “We actually know each other pretty well—I’ve met his wife and his little daughter. He’s a tough guy, and it’s going to be a good fight. Two guys with everything to prove to everybody, and we’re going to go out there banging away.”
When talking to Soszysnki you get the feeling that experiments have more in common with fights than both merely being trials. The energy that will collide on the proving ground on April 18 is very real. In fact, it’s just as the Polish Experiment wants it . . . it’s . . . it’s alive!

By: Dorothy Willis (Senior Writer)
For those who knew her, it will come as no surprise that Grandma Dee was the first death directly attributed to the UFC.
Death arrived shortly after a message from the Canadian press informed the dedicated GSP fan that the long-awaited hearing by the NSAC regarding the complaints filed against Georges St. Pierre and his team by B.J. Penn have been delayed due to Penn and his attorney asking to present "new evidence" regarding the case.
The blow terminated the old woman’s soul and ended her desire to live; otherwise, she would have been forced to deal with even more abuse from the fans of B.J.
Not many will mourn her passing.
Certainly not Penn, who prophesized that his fight with Georges St. Pierre would be "to the death."
Few suspected that the death Penn referred to was that of the lonely old woman who often wrote less-than-complimentary articles which pointed out Penn’s character defects and lack of morality.
Per Mrs. Willis’s request, there will be no memorial service. Her remains will be cremated and scattered on her deceased father’s grave, in accord with her lifelong wishes.
The family requests that Mrs. Willis’s fans, if any, sign their organ donor cards, as Mrs. Willis had.
Of course anyone wishing to make a donation to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, the American Diabetes Association, or any of the many Humane Associations (for animals) of their choice are encouraged to do so.
Mrs. Willis was a supporter of any cause that protected children, animals, or women from abuse and was an advocate for mental health and solutions of worldwide issues like hunger and human trafficking.
Reading the poem "Death Be Not Proud," by Jon Donne, would be an appropriate way to pay respects and say goodbye.
As a Christian, Grandma Dee will be happy to be reunited with her friends and family who have passed on before her and will surely continue to watch what occurs within the Octagon from her new vantage in the sky.

Quote: "As first reported by Yahoo! Sports’ Kevin Iole in January, the Ultimate Fighting Championships’ landmark ‘UFC 100′ event has been officially announced for July 11 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
The UFC made the announcement on its official website Friday morning.
The organization did not release any information regarding potential bouts or ticketing information in the post.
The event is expected to be headlined by a rescheduled rematch between current heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and interim champ Frank Mir. That unification bout had been set for UFC 98 on May 23, but a recent knee surgery by Mir forced a delay in the plans.
During this past Saturday’s UFC 96 pay-per-view broadcast, Mir announced the bout would be held at UFC 100. Following the event, UFC President Dana White was less committed to the appointment."
"Off the top of my head, I don’t know, but it’ll be the summer," White said in the evening’s post-event press conference.
UFC 100 will mark the UFC’s return to the Mandalay Bay Events Center for the first time in one year. The UFC has recently opted for the venue’s sister property, the 14,?700-?capacity MGM Grand Garden Arena, for major Las Vegas events.
Mandalay Bay, which accommodates approximately 11,000 spectators, last hosted an event in July 2008 when then-UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson and Forrest Griffin headlined UFC 86. Since then, the MGM Grand Garden Arena has hosted UFC 91 and UFC 92 in late 2008, UFC 94 in January and will host UFC 98 on May 23.
While the UFC did not offer many details regarding the festivities, the announcement promised "a night no fight fan will ever forget."
An excerpt from the announcement is printed below.
Featuring the premier athletes in the sport of MMA today, the UFC 100 fight card will be stacked with fighters who have carried on the legacy established by the greats of the UFC such as Royce Gracie, Dan Severn, and Mark Coleman, while building a foundation for the future warriors of the octagon.
And though the past 15 years have seen mixed martial arts evolve from spectacle to sport, one constant remains: UFC is As Real As It Gets.
On July 11, UFC 100 kicks off MMA’s next era.
The rumored fight card at this time currently includes:
Champ Brock Lesnar vs. interim champ Frank Mir (heavyweight title unification)
Champ Georges St. Pierre vs. Thiago Alves (for welterweight title)
Michael Bisping vs. Dan Henderson
Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Alan Belcher

The UFC is set for its debut in Germany on Saturday the 13th of June. While we haven’t heard any confirmation of any other fights on the card one fight has been announced and that is Wanderlei Silva will be brawling it out against Rich Franklin.
There are rumors about that these two will be be fighting at a catch weight of 195lbs. Both are also coming off losses so a win is a must for each one.
This may work very favorably for Silva for his future in 185, he has always walked around just over 205 so he hasn’t cut much for a fight. Coming in at 195 might be a good adjustment phase and help him get used to cutting for a fight.

Other fights rumored to be on the card but have not been officially confirmed are:
Heath Herring Vs Cain Velasquez
Mike Swick Vs Ben Saunders
Spencer Fisher Vs Caol Uno
Todd Duffee Vs Mustapha Al Turk

Here we go!!!!!!!!!!
Rampage has the look of someone who just found the dude that had sex with his wife or something like that. He has the coldest look on his face, just staring at Dean without emotion. He has a look is gonna make babies cry on his face. Can’t wait to see what happens…
Rd. 1
Quinton moves in like a tiger looking a deer in the savanna. Fighters go into clinch. Dean moves forward. Rampage looks very relaxed. Dean is circling him using the entire octagon. Dean goes for the take down by Rampage stuffs it. Dean goes for the 1 leg take down but can’t get it. Fighters go into clinch. Crowd starts booing. They wanna see a war! Quick left short jab from Dean. Dean throws a right a finger goes into Rampages eye a little. Nothing major… Quinton gets a short hook and Dean stumbles, Quinton goes after but Dean moves. Leg kick but Quinton catches it. Left hook from rampage hits Dean but he keeps moving. Nice front kick from Dean. Both fighters are throwing lots of wild punches. Chuck Liddell style…. Fighters go into clinch against the cage. End of round 1.
Rd. 2
Nice right cross from Quinton. Quinton is really bobbing around, moving his head good. Nice uppercut doesn’t land very solid from Dean. Straight left from Dean stops Dean in his tracks. Left leg kick followed by right straight from Dean. Nice left from Quinton hits Dean on the chin, another and Dean is on the ground. Quinton is going crazy trying to keep him there but Dean gets to his feet quickly! Dean using the right leg kick that Forrest took him out with. Quinton goes for the shoot and gets Dean to the ground, but dean gets up quickly again. Quinton not looking as focused as he was in the first round. Dean starting to drop his hands, not a good sign. Looking exhausted already. Dean gets a left leg kick right to Quinton’s nuts, but he takes it like a solider. Dean is starting to bring the mean out, Rampage is hurt and throwing wild punches. He is feeling the Mean now! Nice left from Quinton right no Deans chin. Dean looks very tired, dropping his hands more and more. The fighters are against the cage and they are throwing wild punches. Wow, this is what we wanted!
Rd. 3
The crowd is going crazy! Both fighters go quickly into the middle of the ring, they want a war! Dean bringing his hands up a little more. Nice straight right from Dean. Dean goes for a right cross and Quinton ducks and takes Dean down via a double hook. Dean stands up while holding rampage, what a soldier! Nice straight right rocks Quinton a little. Nice upper cut from Dean. Quinton looks tired and isn’t putting much power in his punches. Nice uppercut and a left from Dean and Quinton swallows…. Dean goes for the take down but just gets him against the cage and they fighters go into clinch. Ref brings them to middle stage. Dean is moving away from Quinton now, and Quinton is getting the best of Dean now, the crowd is on its feet with only 30 seconds left. Both fighters are exhausted now, Dean being more so. With less than 10 seconds left in the round Quinton lands a solid right cross and drops Dean, Dean quickly grabs his leg and the fight is over.
What a fight! This is exactly what everyone wanted to see, it is very close. Quinton Jackson wins!

He was out and the ref was about to stop it but there was some miscommunication. Matt goes in like a bull and continues to dominate like a mo fo. He didn’t even look like he was trying. He was pretty much knocked him out at least 3 times. At the end of the fight Matt drops Pete and lands a few more solid blows with careless effort before the ref calls the fight. At the end of the fight Matt throws up his hands like WTF and Pete falls over, while on the ground, Pete is smiling while getting hit in the face. After 3 solid blows, the ref calls it.

Rd. 1
First minute of action starts off with both fighters getting a feel for each other. In the clinch, neither does anything. Gray lands the first solid shot with a belly shot and a left hook. Jim feels it. Another combo by gray. He has really improved his hands. Jim lands a hard left kick to Grays mid section. Jim goes for the one leg take down but Gray is shutting him out and getting some great shots while he is hooping around,. Great show of athleticism! Nice knee by Gray while Jim goes for another takedown,. Gray has some serious balance! People here want him to sweet the leg, kind of like in Karate Kid… Sweep the Leg Johnny. Jims nose is starting to bleed from the under hook shots that Gray landed when Jim was going for the take down. Jim is breathing already. He used a lot of energy to try and take him down. Nice right hook by Gray, opens up some more blood. A vicious right hook sends blood across the octagon and the round is over.
Rd. 2
At the start of the round, Jim is looking pretty beat up already. That right hook is really working wonders for Gray. Jim cant seem to stop it. Jim is breathing through his mouth as his nose is filled with blood. This really takes a lot out of your game. Cup check for Gray from Jim. A straight right brings more blood spewing from Jim’s nose. Now he is cut under his right eye. Nice left high kick lands on Gray from Jim. Gray is doing a great job of working the body and then getting a few more shots in while he can. Jim is still pushing forward even though his face is starting to look like a hamburger. Jim goes in for the take down and gets one leg and pulls Gray down but gets right back up. Straight right from Gray brings more blood from Jims face. His whole right side of his face is nasty from those right hooks and straight rights. I have no idea why the crowd is booking; we are getting a great fight. Another right hurts Jim but Jim still moves forward. Wow, Gray is looking amazing!
Rd. 3
Jim’s corner man really cleaned him up well and stopped a lot of the bleeding. The right cross and hook are still working for Gray. Now, Gray is switching it up and bringing the left. Straight right brings Jim back a bit. Nice left leg kick to the mid section by Jim. Jim goes for the super man punch and pisses badly. Jim goes for the take down and Gray stuffs it again! Gray now goes for the take down and the body slam. Jim has a hold of Gray’s knee but doesn’t have the energy left to get the knee bar. Jim goes for the take down again and Gray stuffs it and tries to get Jim in a pile driver hold. Finally, Gray gets into almost full guard and is getting some nice straight shots. Not a whole lot that Jim can do but cover up and try not to get knocked out. He is really trying for some submissions but doesn’t have the energy. Gray wins all 3 rounds.
Gray Maynard def. Jim Miller via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

Tamdan is having a great role in his first few UFC fights. He is trained under Bodybuilding.com writer Kevin Seamen.
Tamdan starts off the exchanges but switches and goes for the take down and gets it. He gets full guard. He is sporting some new wing tattoos on his back. Ryan doing a great job of making sure that Tamdan cannot inflict any real damage. Finally Tamdan gets through with a straight right followed by a left from full guard. He moves to side guard and lands a few good elbows. He leaves his leg open and Ryan has control on it but losses it. Back to half guard but moves to full guard. He is getting his rhythm and starts to get through with elbows and straight shots. He cuts Ryan’s right eye open and starts getting some nasty hits and the ref is forced to call it. The crowd is defiantly not into this fight but IMO it was a good one. The cut over Ryan’s eye is nasty (as Joe Rogan would put it, it looks like a ‘goats vagina’). After the fight in the interview Tamdan is dropping f bombs like it is going out of style.
Tamdan McCrory def. Ryan Madigan via TKO (strikes) - Round 1, 3:35.

The Spider is back and is showing all that Team Punishment is here to stay in the UFC. Fight starts a little slow with both fighters trading a few. Kendel lands a nice leg kick to Jason’ ribs. Kendell fakes with a left and throws a right cross and knocks Jason into next week and he is out cold. Kendell goes in for the kill and lands a few but the ref is there to call it.
Kendall Grove def. Jason Day via TKO (strikes) - Round 1, 1:32.
