Issues

Some issues are creeping up that are trying to push my panic button

Weight:  It has gone up which I know SHOULD be ok but I still don’t like it.  I know with lifting heavier that is will prob go up and having to eat more to fuel my heavier sessions and longer runs isn’t going to help in the weight loss area…no I’m not trying to lose weight I just want to maintain.  I still have a hard time with the scale.  I try to weigh myself twice a month and no more.

Bloating:  It seems I’ve been more bloated the last week or so.  It started after I started eating more.  I’m hoping my body will adjust to the extra food soon because my mind is NOT liking it.  I feel huge and then I look in the mirror or look down and it’s the same so I think it’s my mind playing tricks.  Im probably closer to the 2000 mark on most days.  I’ve lost my ability to ignore hunger for more than 30 minutes (used to could go HOURS before)  so I’ve been eating when I’m hungry…I know, like a normal person should.  I still think about food and what I’m going to eat WAY too much.

Today is speed day at the track and heavy day in the weight room.  I am seeing some changes in my physique though I am having problems with that (I’m not used to the bigger look so in my mind I look F*T).  I do have more tone/definition in the front/back of my arms but no so much underneath-you know lunch lady arms-YUCK.  I’m going to try hitting that area a different way because kickbacks aren’t "kicking" it for me.

Workout:

2 mile WATP DVD

Speed/Bleachers

Front: Heavy, low reps

Boy you’ve got to pitch that scale in the trash can Trudee. It’s simply not a reliable measure of progress. Esp with the changing body composition of muscle & BF since you’re doing both cardio & resistance training. Same for the food issue……gotta get over that & simply do what you know you should be doing, regardless of how you feel emotionally.

Very cool avi w/ your daughter. :D

I agree, you do need to ditch the scale. Your weight is not a measure of progress because muscle is more condensed than body fat. If you gain muscle and lose body fat, the number on the scale will probably stay the same, maybe even go up. But 5 lbs of muscle actually takes up less room than 5 lbs of fat, so as your body composition changes (which it is) you’ll notice that things start fitting looser, even if the number on the scale actually goes up. Which is why the scale is SO unimportant.

Initially that may not be the case because your muscles are holding on to more water. Your body is adjusting to the food you’re feeding it, but you have to be patient and you will start noticing changes for the better. Like I’ve told you, your arms are already starting to look "toned" in your recent race pictures. You’re small enough that even the most subtle changes will probably be noticeable. Hang in there, don’t give up. And if you can’t throw out the scale, hide it way out of site (out of site=less tempting to step on).

Thanks for your support and encouragment both of you. I CAN’T throw the scale out…I think it would be worse. I only weigh myself 2 times a month so not a big deal. I’m just not used to seeing it go up.
My body comp has changed dramatically since I’ve been lifting heavier and added the extra day. My clothes are looser and the legs of my shorts are looser and the arms of my shirts are tighter LOL.
I will continue to eat better/more but slow and steady so I’m not too overwhelmed!
