First Blog Post Ever!!!

June 25, 2009

Ok, technology has been one thing I have always been up with, but for some reason, I have never used a blog. Although, I have also resisted the use of Myspace, Facebook and Twitter, mainly due to the fact I am a little guarded about my personal life…

Anyways, I am using this blog in conjunction with my Training Journal to start keeping track of my progress a lot better. Unfortunately I have been a bit lax when it comes to tracking this type of thing, but currently I am really focused on losing weight / cutting and I have found my posting is helping me stay focused.

My current weight is 83kg, down from 94kg earlier in the year, while I am not so niaive to think this is all fat loss, i am comfortable in the fact that I have lost little muscle during this time. Up until now I would not say I have been cutting, but merely focusing on eating properly and actually doing cardio. For a while there I was being really stupid about bodybuilding, blindly thinking that it was all about how much I could lift, but I now more and more view my bodybuilding journey as one of self discovery and self belief.

While not everyones cup of tea, i think a lean body suits me better, while I would love to have the size of Arnold, Jay or Ronnie, it is really not practical due to the way I live my life, my family comittments and all round asthetic appeal.

So What I have done to lose weight so far…

Cardio

Lots more consistent cardio, particularly running and rowing. My main source of cardio initially was Rowing.

Stationary Rowing is a real all body workout, I vary my feet position slightly to get more focus on certain area’s, but overall the main focus needs to be on the full contraction of the shoulders on the draw back portion of the movement, this really hits your back, chest and core. Also inportant to remember is the use of the legs is just as important, I found rowing really worked my entire legs and is a great activity

Running, well we all run and while some prefer the open fields, a run through a mountain trial, I personally prefer the majority of mine to be done on the treadmill. I find the treadmill helps me keep the pace, where I would be otherwise tempted to slow down or take it easy.
