Blog Entry

April 29, 2008

As of today I am switching things around.  Whereas i was focusing fully on reducing bodyfat, because it is now going into southern hemisphere winter i am going to take the next couple of months to bulk up and try pack on some muscle.

My biggest worry with bulking phases has always been that eating the extra calories might just turn into bodyfat, but at least with it being winter there’ll be plenty of warm clothing to disguise it.  And if all goes according to plan, come a few weeks before springtime I’ll be ready to launch head-on into a strong cutting phase.  The extra muscle I’ll have by then will even make it easier to burn calories and get my bodyfat % down into single digits.

Im going to be following Vince Del Monte’s No Nonsense Muscle Building beginner-intermediate programme, so we’ll see how it goes.  But I’m pretty stoked, I know that this year will be the year I finally get the physique I’ve been working for!

One Month, no holds barred

November 12, 2007

Okay, so once again, as a result of some hectic work followed by study leave, i’ve let myself go.  Weak excuse i know, but i just have never been able to study without hefty doses of sugar in me.  Of course, the obvious problem of a months of disgusting eating and no working out, aside from a few mild cardio dance sessions, is that i have nudone just about all i’ve acheived this year.  It really pisses me off how easy it is to gain fat, when its damn near impopssible to lose.

Anyways, here’s where i stand now.  In just under a month, an old friend is coming into town, and she just happens to be a smoking hot, gorgeous girl.  I now have a goal of looking at least remotely presentable within 4 weeks, so i have got to focus focus focus on losing the excess fat i’ve regained and tightening up.  So here goes nothing, get in or go home!!!

Climbing back on the Wagon

July 31, 2007

Oh man did i fall off the wagon last week!!!  I only worked out twice, i kept forgetting to take my supplements and i completely let go of my diet and ate & drank so much crap its unbeleivable!!!  That always happens when i get really busy at work…i just find it near impossible to get the motivation to look after my body.  Anyways, i am back into it and things have been going well this week, even though its only Tuesday :)   Guess I’ll just have to work and think hard and see what happens.

Welcome!

July 17, 2007

Okay so this is my first post of my first blog ever.  Dont know if anyone else will ever read this, but im gonna give it a go anyway in the hopes that a few months/years down the line when im awesomely ripped ;) i’ll be able to look back and read about the long hard journey.  Coz thats exactly what its going to be.  Up till now my diet has sucked big time, and it shows in my scrawny chubby body.  I’ve lost a fair amount of wight over the last 18 months or so, but have never taken nutrition and exercise too seriously.  For the last three weeks i’ve been much more dedicated, especially with regards to weight training, but although i’ve noticed my strength increase quite a lot, there has been no change at all in my physical appearance.  BF%, weight, everything…exactly the same as before when i was leading a blissfully lazy existence.  Goes to show what all the good intention and effort in exercising will get you if you continue eating like a dumbass.

Since i get next to no protein in my ordinary diet, i started with my first ever protein supplement today…i was pleasantly surprised that the shakes actually taste good ;)   I’ve also started some fat burner liquid which i dont expect too great results from.  Few people seem to think fat burners work, but i just have to see for myself.

As for exercise, i was up bright and breezy this morning & at the gym where i squeezed in 20 minutes of low intensity cardio on the elliptical and stationary bike, followed by a fairly invigorating leg workout.  Things are going pretty well, except the leg extensions machine…that thing absolutely kills me everytime!!!
