P90x - Should I Do It?

Well I am wondering if I should do the workout routine I have listed in my previous blog or if I should start P90x that my brother ordered but never used.  I have searched the internet far and wide for discussion groups on P90x and I hear great things and multiple people have posted transformation pictures….

They look very promising and I believe I could do it, instead of workout out 5 times a week, its 6.  They do muscle confusion and provide a meal plan, which is to help those get the best results.

Even though they are marking P90x as something new, it really follows a concept called periodization (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sports_periodization).

I think you should go for it. While I don’t use P90X, I do use the same concept by varying my cardio between long distance running, short intervals and by plyometrics. I also change my weight workouts every 4-6 weeks focusing on strength, power and flexibility.

The only way you will find what works for you is by trying new things and changing it up to keep it exciting.

Dude, do the P90. it worked wonders for me (I finished up about 2 months ago), and I’ve been able to apply alot of the same principles to my subsequent workouts. You state that your goal is to lose your beer belly. The P90 workouts are all about keeping your heart rate up, which burns fat, so the workouts alone will help you reach your goal if you have any diet discipline…if you do the P90 diet as well as the workouts, then I will guarantee you will lose the belly. It’s only 90 days man, just get it over with!

I haven’t tried the P90X, but I hear good things about it. I say do it for 90 days (especially since it’s free to you) to whip your butt into shape, then get started with your other routine you mentioned. I think the videos would be good motivation to get you into the habit of working out, rather than trying to do it by yourself.
    Good luck & work hard!

I like going to the gym to lift weights. To work out only at home would not work for my psychology. On the other hand neither would going to the gym all the time. I ordered P90X weeks ago and have incorporated it as a vital part of my overall routine. It’s really great, and it’s based on good solid principals. Applejack is right, try new things and keep it interesting.

Thanks for all the feed back! I think since I am starting out, I will try to embellish it for 90 days and use it to point me in the right direction. Thanks again for all the advice!
