Hey Puddin’ Head.
I received my Muscle Tech "GAKIC" today!!! I had to bodyslam myself quickly and hide on the floor. The UPS man came a knockin’ while I was all gussied up in my swimsuit for progress pics, standing in front of a nice white sheet by the door. lol I know the way you men think. "WOMAN….BATHING SUIT….MIDDLE OF WINTER….FULL MAKE-UP….SHE WANTS ME….SHE WANTS ME NOW." haha
Ok, now let me get out of my silly mood and be professional.
I weighed in this morning at 146.
TWO PAPPY’S SUPER BIG THUMBS UP!
I am down a total of 11 pounds from the beginning of contest. I am down 3.5 lbs from one week ago!
I also did my bodyfat percentage. In four readings my bodyfat averaged out to 21%. (Numbers ranging between 20.9-21.7.)
My BMI was exactly 22.2% everytime.
Anyone know the difference between these readings? And should I go more by BMI or bodyfat? Does the fact that I hold onto more muscle than the average woman make a difference with the BMI reading per electronic handheld device?
I know, I know.
Just look in the mirror.
And here….we…go.

The proof is in the puddin, Puddin.

BMI is a statistical categorization used by researchers. It is relevant in the way mortality charts are for insurance companies. In the late 1980’s the US decided to change the BMI numbers to match Europe’s….. The US had obesity set at a a higher BMI number than Europe….overnight 30 million Americans became obese, because of the number change, and we had an epidemic.
BMI is a calculation that has its roots set in the late 1800s where it was largely discredited and then picked up again in the 1940s. BMI does not take into account muscle mass or any of a million other considerations. Again it is good for research categorization. If the bodyfat is reading low that is the key. Remember that according to the BMI most weightlifters are obese.

yeah don’t pay attention to the bodyfat percentage because it really does goes down to what you look like in the mirror. I had my bodyfat measurements taken and it had me at 19% but I look like I’m 14%. I don’t pay attention to bodyfat measurements. But what I do pay attention to is the inches lost from parts of my body.
You’re doing great Maddi! I’m proud of you. keep up the good work.
