Can You Feel The Hunger??? (Because I Sure Can’t!) lol

Maddi

My kids are jamming out on "Seussical The Musical" right now.  I have drop dead gorgeous drama nerds for daughters.  Ok.  My daughter just walked by and is super pissed.  "Drama Nerd???  Who the heck you calling a drama nerd??"  lol  I’ve got good kids.  Having a family was the greatest thing I have ever done.  Yes, it wreaked havoc on my body.  Yes, it left it’s permanent markings.  Worth every bit of it.  So glad that whole childbirth thing is over with me for me though.  Also the preschool years. I enjoyed every bit of the youth, but I am very ready to move on and watch these ladies flower into the beautiful women they are about to become.

So let’s talk about nude pictures.  If you have read my latest blog in my private journal, you will know that I have done it.  These are things that will sometimes come back to kick people in the face.  Never take a picture that you are not comfortable with the whole world (including mom and dad) eventually seeing.  Always be true to yourself, and your own values, and you can never go wrong.  If you ever do make a mistake, which we all do from time to time, face up to it.  Know that you can learn from it.  Life is not about perfection, but a journey towards authenticity and acceptance.

My diet.  Hmmmm.  I fell off just a bit.  I am going to be real honest.  I lost my immediate 7 lbs and was thrilled to pieces.  Went back two days later after a few Sprite Zeros and an entire jar of jerkins.  The scale read 2 lbs higher.  (Go figure!)
Still, this messed with my mind enough that I slacked off a bit.

My family went out for Mexican last night.  I knew there was nothing safe on the menu at this particular restaurant, so I opted to stay home, telling hubbie "just order me a large salsa".  I did not know that they were going to send home an entire QUART of the stuff.  lol

So I cooked my first chicken.  Boiled it in water and it’s own juices, with plentiful fresh cloves of garlic, some red pepper, salt, pepper, and parsley.  Cooked it down to nothing, and continued to cook it, pulling and tearing it apart with a fork as I went.  It was DELICIOUS.  I only gagged twice.  lol  (Remedial vegetarian here.)  Tons of salad (a whole bag being 35 calories) and 1/2 a quart of salsa.  Finished off the leftovers in the morning.  (Yes, the entire quart of salsa is completely gone!)

I looked up the calorie and carb count on salsa.  Seems truly it’s not such a bad thing.  The whole quart was likely about 160 calories, and 45 grams of carbs.

Not a sad and tragic falling off.  But not exactly a competitor’s diet either, which is what I am trying to follow here.  I am going to start over tomorrow, and hope to at least be down to 149 by weigh in.

Going to look into KETO more closely.  I don’t believe I have been doing this thing correctly so far.  But hey… I am a work in progress here.  :)

I am on a quest for hunger.  I want to get to the point of allowing myself to feel it daily.

Remember that rewarding progress with food is like rewarding an alcoholic with a drink, it just ISN’T a good idea.

Get your ass in gear because while I can’t speak for the rest of us, I’m on point ;)

    Maddi,
From one food lover to another I will tell you that I needed and have moved my focus. I simply do not view food the way I have in the past and hope I never will. You know this though. It is not really the food that is the enemy but our attitudes toward food.

No longer do I feed my emotions. I used to eat when I was happy, sad, bored, and maybe even once in awhile hungry.

    Salsa:
A quart of salsa could be great, fine, or unacceptable in my nutrition plan depending on how it was made. This is why I try to make my salsa fresh. Onions, peppers, tomato, cilantro, and garlic diced and mixed makes a great salsa and a salsa that I could eat without regret until it was coming out of my ears. On the other hand, store bought salsa contains sugar, corn syrup, soybean oil and at times worse. A quart of the store bought salsa would be a big no no on my nutritional plan.

Salsa isnt that bad. Hang tough and jump back on that wagon. You still doing great.

Hi Jumbo! Yes, I am a tremendous food lover. You are so right that it is not food that is our enemy, but our attitude towards food.

The salsa I had was restaurant salsa…the same as homemade. Very fresh with lots of garlic and cilantro. Darn it was good! ;)

The only problem I have with it is that I have been intending to follow a keto diet as it seems to being the quickest results.

Honestly, I do not think I am cut out for keto. I have a very hard time parting with the healthy carbs which I love and know are good for me.

Thanks for the support my friends!

I am a big fan of protein and veggies in abundance with good fats added. Complex carbs are what I avoid. It has been doing wonders for me…..although I did have a baked potato the other day….shh don’t tell.

I do stay away from ‘white’ veggies and grains. I have not had a grain in about a month now. Of course we are all different. Just curious, what is your blood type?

  6. stonecoldtruth Says:

Maddi, have you thought about carb cycling instead then? That takes a bit less ‘discipline’ as you have high, low, and no carb days. it gives great results and allows you to still ‘enjoy’ your eating.

  7. Maddi Says:

Yes, SCT, I believe carb cycling is more what I am cut out for. I don’t believe it is as efficient as the keto though. …And I so want to beat your ass …this has me worried. ;)

Dave, I do not know my blood type. I believe I will call my Dr tomorrow and ask.

  8. njmuscle66 Says:

keto takes a little time to get use to and the first week or two is the toughest but I have always had great results and it is quite manageable IMO. However you will kick Josh’s ass either way ;)

Chuck, why you gotta lie to Maddi like that!
