Thanks everyone..but I have withdrawn from the contest.

Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007
LeahThank you for all your comments and encouragement, but I have sent an e-mail to Richard, stating my desire to pull out of the contest.  As much as I have planned on doing it..I am afraid I no longer think I will be competing..and doing a cut for nothing just does not make much sense to me.  I am dealing with some personal issues, and I know that they will prevent me from honestly putting forth my best effort towards this contest and competing.

As I wirte this I feel very diapointed in myself, and feel as if I have let alot of people down who have believed in me, supported me, and helped me along the way..and I am truly sorry if I have dispointed anyone else.  I wish i could do this..I do…and I am sorry to let Richard, and the bb.com staff down when they have presented me with this wonderful oppurtunity.

I know all the participants will do well, and I commend you all, beforehand, on the hard work you will be putting into this.
Good luck everyone….and thanks.

Lack of Motivation

Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007
LeahWell, I am gonna be honest, lately I have been suffering from a distinct feeling of frustration and lack of motivation towards my fitness comp journey.  This is not the way I wanted to start off the new year, nor the tone I want to set for this contest.  I feel almost that someone else may be better suited to compete against all you fine people, and that perhaps I am taking away from someone else’s ability to compete, and succeed.

I am hoping this feeling goes away soon..I just don’t want to waste anyone’s time, or my own…

Also, I keep meaning to comment on every one else’s posts, but just have my head in a weird place.  i wish you all luck, I know you will all do well. I hope this feeling goes away soon, otherwise, i think I might step aside for someone more motivated to take my place.

Good luck everyone…..

First Workout of 2007!

Tuesday, January 2nd, 2007
LeahWell, it was the first workout of the new year..and it went pretty well…I felt fairly strong, and all went as planned….I am not going to post my entire workout….just a general idea of what i did today.

ATG squats-mixed reps/weight
Decline Bench-increasing weight to 75 lbs
Chin-up’s-12 unassited
Deads-3X5 (135 lbs)
Pendlay Rows-3×5 (70 lbs)
Military press-3×5(50 lbs)
Leg Extensions-mixed weight/reps
Calf Raises-mixed weight/rep

I am fooling around with some stuff right now..and to be honest, nothing is set in stone..I used to do higher weight on deads (190 lbs) and squats (150 lbs) but was finding that the very low reps, and high weight (pls remember I am only 104.5 lbs) was screwing up my form….
I am changing things up to improve my form, and kinda shock my body…..
So, that’s it for today…tomorrow is cardio and abs….

Starting off Slow

Monday, January 1st, 2007
LeahSince the gym is closed today..and I ..well, had a bit much to drink to ring in the new year…I will not have my first workout session of the new year unttil Wednesday night..( I have to work tomorrow)
anyhow..I wanted to post my measurements for prosperity..so here they are :)

thigh -20.5 in
calf-12.5 in
hips-33 in
waist-25 1/4 in
chest-32 in
shoulders-38.5 in
bicep-flexed-11 in
unflexed-9.5 in

Since I do not want to lose much size, I am hoping i can manage to keep these numbers the same, or better yet, to make them go up some…

I am weighing in at about 104.5 lbs, which I also hope goes up a bit…

LeahWell, this is the non-posing me…  I am 5′0 tall, weigh in at 104.5 lbs, and have about 20% bf (though Ness is certain it is lower-still think so???)

My goal is too maintain, or gain some weight, while trying to cut down to about 15% bodyfat… I really do not want to lose weight AT ALL!!!!!!

My Plan of Attack (workout wise-that is!)

Friday, December 29th, 2006
LeahI guess I should follow suit and post my workout plan….

I used to do rippetoe (and for anyone who is starting out, and want to build power and size-this is the program for you!!!)  I gained 10 lbs lean muscle on thie program…and all my compound excercises soared (went from a 45 lb squat to a 150 max squat!)  But..I changed things around to focus on specific body parts ( I have weak quads, calves and shoulder caps) and so…here it is:

Day One

Squats- 3*20 (95 lbs) I am working on form which is why weight is so low :(

Incline Bench press-1*3 (55 lbs)
                           1*3 (60 lbs)
                           1*3 (65 lbs)
                           1*3 (70 lbs)
                           3*3 (75 lbs)

Chin-ups (narrow grip) 6*3 (unassited)

Deadlifts-3*5 (135 lbs) I lowered the weight to improve form on these as well)

Overhead db press (short term replacement for military press)

Pendlay Rows -3*5 (75 lbs)

Seated wide Grip Cable rows-3*12 (55 lbs)

Leg Extensions-1*20 (45 lbs)

Calf Raises-2*20 (100 lbs)

Upright Rows- 2*20 (30 lbs)

All weights increase as I can manage-workouts on a weekly basis can be found in my journal :)

                                    Day Two

Upright Rows
1*10 (20 lbs)
2*8 (40/50 lbs) supersetted with:

Lateral raises 3* 10 (15 lb db’s)

Leg curls-1*20 (40 lbs)

Walking Lunges- 25 lb db’s for 20 steps (X2)

Hack Squat Machine - 2*20 ( 45 lbs) I just included these..they hurt :(

Hammer curls-2*10  (15 lbs db’s)

Preacher curls -3*5- (40 lbs)

Dips (unassited) 2* max (about 12)

Tricep Rope Pull-down- 2*10 ( 30 lbs)

                                        Day Three

Cardio- 25/35 minutes on Stepmill-level 10

V-ups - 4* 15 supersetted with:
Planks (4 @ one/two minute static hold)
Hanging leg raises (straight legged)-6*6

Lots of streching..I am working on getting the splits down, both sides, and the impossible middle one’s

                                     Day Four

This day is currently a gymnastics class (one and a half hours) that I go to once a week..I can do all types of cool gymnastics stuff still, and took this class to help get back into the gymnastics for my fitness routine for comp.

However, this ends at the end of januray, and so I will devote this day to working on my fitness routine (getting it together…2 minutes of dancing and jumping, basically an all out cardio routine) ..practicing the mandatory moves for the fitness round ( chair sit, straddle hold, one arn push-ups, flexibility etc)  I am looking forward to this day…

That’s it…4 days a week, very little cardio (for now) and a slightly different focus then some of the other competitors :)

If you know your Worth, you go get what you are worth!

Friday, December 29th, 2006
LeahWell, I went and saw Rocky last night, and it was a great movie.

My mother used to be a huge fan of any type of fight movie out there (Rocky, Bloodsport) and she must have passed that on to me..because I love FIGHT movies.  I grew up watching Rocky, and so I had to DRAG my hubby out to see the new installment..and neithier of us were disapointed :)

I wanted to cheer, and it was certainly motivating to see a 60 year old man (Rocky) all buff, using kettleballs, doing heeyuge squats, clean and jerks, and pounding big slabs of raw meat with his bare hands! I tell you, it really made me think about how ANYTHING is possible.
Yes, I realize it was only a movie, but I was amazed at Sylvester Stallone and how in shape he was for this role.  Makes you think…anyone can do it..especially us young ‘un’s!

So, with an extra dose of motivation..I am ready to go!!! I can’t wait to be in the best shape of my life..and watch as all my other competitors strive for the same!!!

“If you know what you are worth, you go get what you are worth” (Rocky)

still working on it!

Thursday, December 28th, 2006
LeahI am still workning on a diet..but the macro’s will be 40% protein, 35% fats, and 25% carbs..most likey around 2000-2200 cals/day…I want to keep my muscle, and see how the “healthy, clean” eating treats me..I hope the bf comes off as well as well as the muscle came on :)

My diet will be my weak point, which I why I am coming up with three, one day meal plans, and will follow them to a tee until my competition is over.
