Well…..didn’t make it. I got up 305, but that was it. It was crazy heavy, I nearly stroked out, but I got it up all by myself. Wanted to try 310, but there was just no way. All in all I guess the program was a success. I did add 10 lbs or so to my bench in 10 weeks. Not an amazing strength gain, but it’s something. I think I’m gonna try it again. This time I’ll factor in 325 or 330 and see what happens. The first five weeks are pretty light, but my shoulders could use a break from going heavy. Had two goals for 2007, bench 315 and be 200 lbs solid mass. Close, but no cigar. But you know what us Browns fans say year after year after year…….we’ll get em next year.

Well, I have mixed feelings about yesterday. Was supposed to do 300 x 2. Didn’t get it. I did get one rep @ 300 for two sets, but couldn’t get the second one up either time without help. The third set was basically a disaster, my shoulder gave out completely and I was done. The end. So I didn’t achieve what I was supposed to, but…..I had never gotten 300 up on flat bench without some help before, so I was pretty stoked anyway. There’s absolutely no way i’m gonna get 315 up next week. I think I can do 305, and if I’m having a good day possibly 310, but we’ll see what happens next week I guess. If anybody actually reads this crap, send some positive energy my way. torch out.

Well, I did the heavy routine again yesterday. I guess I’ll give myself a b-/c+. It was another one of the in-between numbers again. I was supposed to do 283 for 3 reps, three sets. I figured I’d round up and went with 285. First set I got two up ok, but needed a little help on the third. Bummer. I dropped down to 280 and got the first set of three ok and just a slight bump to get over the sticking point on my third rep on my final set. I was pretty happy with it overall I guess. Next week is the big 3-0-0 for two reps. Man I hope I can get it. How the big dudes on here get up 500 pounds I’ll never understand. At the rate I’m going now I’d have to keep building for 40 years to get there.

Ok. I’ve been at a benching plateau for about 2 yrs. I’ve been trying a program I saw on here a few weeks back where you do a light weight with 10 reps for 3 sets, then a light second chest day with 80 percent of that weight, and each week you add weight and decrease the reps by one. I don’t know if it’ll get me where I want to be or not. I skipped through the first six weeks with no problem. This week was kind of an in between weight of 268 for 4 reps (3 sets). I got one set of 270 up for 4, but then my second set was weak, I died at 3. I took a little bit longer rest and then did 265 for 4 reps on my last set, so, I dunno, I guess it didn’t go too horribly. This is where it gets kinda dicey though. I think in two weeks I have to do 300 for 2, then 315 for 1. Anything with a 3 in front of it freaks me out. It’s a mental thing I guess. I’ve done 300 on decline for two or three reps, but we’ll see how we do on flat. I’m trying to stay optimistic.

I’m pissed off and this is as good a place as any to rant about it. I went and wasted my afternoon sitting in the rain watching those stupid brown get their butts handed to them by those *^&^#@ steelers for the umpteenth time in a row. Hey Romeo: Charlie Frye is not an NFL quarterback. give it up. And Derek Anderson….we keep hearing what a great arm he has. The dude can’t hit a receiver, but he sure has a nice tight spiral when he throws five feet in front of or behind his man. I know Brady Quinn isn’t going to be the instant solution to a team that obviously has a lot of issues to fix, but come on, could he do any worse than these two bozos?
