First blog
Saturday, February 21st, 2009So I’ve never blogged before. I guess I’m just supposed to write about myself? Here goes
My name is Ali. I live in Illinois and I work out at Gold’s Gym. I’ve always been really concerned with looking good, but I just recently became concerned with feeling good. I spent a lot of years having people tell me "you are so skinny!" but I never really felt that way. I WAS skinny, but I had absolutely no muscle. I ate horribly, I smoked, I drank a lot, and I really wasn’t concerned with what was going on inside my body. I was in school to become a pastry chef, so naturally I ate a lot of sugar and fat. My license plate actually says LoveCake.
I met my husband three years ago and we were married a year after we met. He’s naturally really really skinny, so he didn’t watch his diet either. I got pregnant and that’s when I started watching what I ate (aside from the tub of icecream I consumed every once in awhile). My daughter was born in May ‘08 and looking in the mirror after she was born was the worst feeling ever. I guess I just thought the pounds would disappear, which they did not. 6 weeks after she was born I started hitting the gym. I didn’t really know what I was doing and I spent a lot of time just wandering around and not really accomplishing anything. In August ‘08 I became a BodyFlow instructor. Aside from the one hour a week I spent teaching, I pretty much stopped going to the gym. Motherhood is time consuming.
A month ago I saw a trainer and a nutritionist and really decided that it was time for me to get my body and my life under control. I’ve been hitting the gym hard and trying to eat well. In a perfect day, I eat 5 meals a day consisting of one protein and one carb, and two times a day I add a fat like olive oil or nuts (recently dropped it down to one because I’m going to Cancun next week). The nutrition is the worst part. I love sugar and I love carbs. Usually I have at least two Hershey’s bite size bars a day. I’m so bad at that.
Anyways, my goals are to do a show in 2010. I want to be down to 112 by May 1 and build a substantial amount of strength and muscle. I also hope to get my eating under control. I recently hurt both knees which has put my leg workouts on hold, which sucks because that’s my favorite body part to work. My dr. doesn’t think an MRI is necessary, but I think he’s being ridiculous. We’ll see what happens.
So there’s an intro to me to anyone that’s interested! I’ll try to stay updated on my progress!
