3.5 Weeks out!

September 18, 2007

Feeling excellent today.

Things are going well. I am making progress every day. My legs are coming in better every day too! Wrapped! Lot of extreme stretching and the way I’m training them has worked great!

I really want to get stuck into the in and outs of my routine this weekend. I’m going to go through it with Warren Sunday night and i look forward to that.

I’ve been doing a lot of visualising with my routine. I’m trying to know it inside out and get things perfect. I want to hit everything spot on….I want to make sure I’m hitting my legs hard at all times.

 It’s all good!

4 WEEKS OUT!

September 16, 2007

Things are heating up! I can feel it!

The last couple of days of last week were pretty rough but it’s all good.

On the weekend I had posing pracitice. Things are going pretty good in that department. I’ve got a few things to concentrate on and just ovverall presentation…breathing and transitions etc. I’m still putting a lot of energy into hitting my legs hard all the time! I’ve GOT to do this well.

I picked up a couple of supplemtns and a few herbal things to help with sleep quality. I’ve got quite a few things there to try…so I look forward to playing around with different combinations. Nothing like a good deep sleep whilst dieting….which can be tricky.

My leg fat is starting to strip away!!! Still behind the upper body but Im happy to see that I’m getting somewhere!

Dave stepped the cardio up a bit so that will bring even more progress this week.

I feel like I’m getting harder every day.

Wednesday and Thursday are my really big days. Train and cardio - then 12 hours work - then more cardio. I slept well last night and felt good this moring for legs and 1hr cardio. This new leg training feels good. I find myself closing my eyes completely throughout each set because I’m concentrating so hard on feeling my quads shifting the weight and trying to take the load off my lower back/glutes/hams as much as I can. I’ve gotten beter at feeling them work and I believe it will make a difference in brining out some seperation. I’m also extreme stretching them alot too which I feel will help.

I’ve been staying more vascular later in the week too which is weird because i should be pretty flat by this stage of the week. It can only mean I’m just getting leaner overall.

Feeling probably the best I’ve felt all week in terms of energy today.

I’m going to pick up a few supplements this Saturday so that will give me a kick along for next week i’m sure.

4.5 weeks out!

September 11, 2007

Wednesdays are a big day for me! But I’m doing okay!

Had a solid back workout this morning. Felt Good throughout the entire workout and was able to concentrate on hitting my back hard and feeling every excercise properly. I’ve been taking my thumb out of my grip and  placing with my fingers around the handles instead of under the handles on a lot of back movements to shift the focus from my forearms to my back. It helps me feel my back more so I see myself sticking with that for a long time.  I’m still goign as heavy as possible but I’m aiming for very controlled/solid reps and squeezing the muscle and really concetrating in on it. I’m still using low volume and low reps so don’t get the idea I’m doing that girly "feel the muscle - light weight - high rep" crap…I’m gettign better at stimulating the muscle whilst still going very heavy and low reps.

Deadlifts are improving in terms of form and power even more so lately. i got the EFS dvd which has alot of westside barbell technique stuff to learn from.

I’m feeling calm and focused today. I’m having a good day. Energy isn’t too bad and mentally I’m feeling good about the show.

I should see some pretty good changes over the next few days as e have upped cardio and everything else is in check.

I’ll probably sneak in a nap between jobs tonight. I don’t get to go home but i might lay on the floor for 20 mins if I can.

I am seeing some signs of improvement in my leg body fat. I tihnk things are starting to happen there and shortly I should notice some good changes.

I’ve had a bit of a rough morning today. Nothing to bad but I could tell I was hurling ass a bit.in the gym and even just trying to walk from my desk to the door seems like a task. Still, it’s not that bad but probably some of the toughest hours so far out of my 21.5 weeks dieting….I feel pretty good now however. I don’t really care how bad I feel…doesn’t bother me, I have goals to accomplish but I’m just noting it here because that’s what this blog is about.

I’m really working on keeping mentally and physically calm and peacful when I’m not at the gym. It can do a lot of the energy side of things and helps strengthen the mind.

I’m going to put about 45 mins into posing tonight and another 50 mins cardio.

5 weeks out!

September 10, 2007

Things are going pretty damn good. Making consistent progress, seems like I’m getting leaner every day.

My legs are still miles behind (bf) but I can see a "little" bit starting to happen there. I’m doign absolutely everything I can to get some seperation and I’m goign to keep it up!

I had a good weekend. Posing practice went well Sat morning and I’ve got another couple of things to work on there… I went to watch my friend in the BJJ Aus titles…he came third.

Sunday i got done training legs and cardio and watched the UFC 75 pay per view…Rampage and Houston won so that was all good…watched the Kangaroos get smashed with the family and that sucked…they better win this weekend.

Worked pretty hard through my routine tonight. It’s near the piont now where I’m not just going through the motions trying to figure out what goes where and I’m actually hitting the shots pretty hard…. It’s coming tother! Still lots of fine tuning to do there though….

Looking forward to training in the morning.

Very cool that I still enjoy the training aspect of things at 5 weeks out… last year i wasn’t as excited about training as I am this year. I’m still loving my weight sessions so woo! for that.

Bed time!

Legs

September 6, 2007

So yesterday I trained back at 5am and did 50 mins cardio, worked 12 hours and went back to do another 40 mins cardio. You would think I would have slept well.

Well, I slept for about 15 mins and then lay awake for a few hours and only ended up getting about 4hrs sleep. Then it was back up at 5:45am for legs, cardio, 12-hour work day and more cardio….

If that wasn’t  “cool” enough when I rocked up to the gym Tony (gym owner) offered take me through a leg workout. Now I’ve been going to this gym for years and he’s never taken me through a single workout! lol He picked a good day….

In the past I would have totally disagreed with Tony’s leg training philosophies but what I’ve done in the past obviously doesn’t help in any way to bring up any separation. This has been a major flaw in my physique and I have nothing to lose because my way of training them hasn’t worked. Now I’m following Tony’s system and hitting them twice a week. I have no problem with leg mass but it’s the cuts that are the challenge.  I will definitely get some lines in them, I want except otherwise.

Warren took a look at me after my workout and was pleased. I’ll leave it at that; suffice to say it made my day.

I picked up another 2 bottles of Gaspari Nolvadex XT today. There’s only one store that sells them in the state and I wanted to make sure I have enough to get me to the show. I hold a lot of hope in this product. We believe I have “estrogeni legs” so this stuff has to help.

Really feeling calm and focused right now. Trying not to ever feel overwhelmed with anything. There is no point thinking about things before your have to do them, just do them when it’s time.

Looking forward to the weekend got a bit on but I want to try and lay around about and watch some dvds etc as well.

Another day down! Feeling good!

5.5 weeks out

September 4, 2007

I thought I would start this blog to get my thoughts out of my head and in to existance. Contest prep is such a mental game and i find that by writing about how I’m feeling and what I’m thinking can help me understand my thoughts more and understand myself more on a whole - rather than just having things go around in circles inside my head.

Right now I’m feeling extremely good for 5.5 weeks out. I’m using a completely different dieting approach and I’m working with Dave Palumbo.

My main goals for this show were always to dramatically improve my conditioning in comparision to last year. As I’ve gotten further into the prep I’ve gotten more specific.

Here are my goals for improvement.

Condtioning:

-Lower body condtioning, Ab defintion and thickness.

Others:

-Chest thickness, back width and biceps.

Also i have some goals for improvement relating to my posing.

-Front double bicep and also controlling ab’s/breathing and hitting my legs better.

It’s been a long prep which will end up being 26 weeks. I have 5.5 to go and I’m starting to get excited and having those moments here and there where you just feel that things are heating up with the atmosphere of the gym etc etc.

More to come.
