a change on December 11, 2007

starting today, i am going to take the advice of a fellow "gymaholic" and cut milk and dairy out of my diet. while this idea probably would not be recomended by any "professionals," i don’t know what else to try in effort to loose that small bit of gut on the lower third of my stomach (i’m sure we’ve all fought this battle). Also, and probably more importantly, i’m going to increase the frequency (not intensity) of my cardio. Lastly, i’m gonna reduce the number of protein shakes i take in per day from 4 or 5, to 1 or 2. The rest of my protein i can get from my diet (like this delicious can of tuna im eating now, puke). I’ll give this untill January 12, 2008.

Cutting out the dairy should help. It did for me. i stopped doing dairy and milk about 6 months ago and i have noticed a difference

All sounds good, except the cardio part. You actually need to increase the intensity and not the frequency or duration. Try 20min. 3-4 times a week. But do sprint intervals. Where you would walk for 2 min-sprint HARD for 1 min….and so on for 20 minutes. This type of training keeps cortisol levels from raising to much while increasing post training caloric burn and GH.

You dont need to cut any dairy products unless you are or are approaching less than 5% BF or so. If you do drop milk, I hope you are making up for calcium elsewhere.

Throwing sprint intervals in, like inkcreep said, is good, but not every cardio day. Some days you should do sprints, some days cardio duration. Keep in mind the goal of cardio is to raise the heart rate for an EXTENDED period of time in order to use extra calories. Try setting the treadmill at a 12% grade and walk for 45minutes, your HR wont go through the roof, but it will stay moderately elevated for an extended period of time. This is also a nice low impact form of cardio.

    Just my thoughts.
