For 6 years I stayed a constant body-fat % (8-9) by doing weights MWF and cardio TThS. I'd eat smart but not restrictive, and have a good "free" meal every week so I could remember what ice cream tasted like. I betting that if you followed that middle-of-the-road plan, your body would find it's ideal spot (maybe the 12% you talked about) and you could enjoy life along the way. I bet you could still see a 6-pac at 12%. I guess it comes down to how you would see yourself in the mirror. If it wouldn't upset your self-image, then let go of the reins a little and relax and enjoy life.

Sounds like ur getting burned out. Quick question... is there really any need to stay sooo lean all year? Is it for work or something, because there's no way I could stay that lean all year. I bulk, and then cut. So half of the year I get to spend it eating almost anything I want as long as i can consume around 4000 calories a day with approximately 300-400 grams of protein. I'm good to grow.

Well, you really do have an incredible physique but i guess that's the price to pay if you want to be like that...I think you should perhaps find a balance between enjoying life in general (food) and keeping a lean body.
Personnaly being strong is my priority, the rest comes in second place. I cannot imagine myself being weak all the time, i need to be strong and fearless all the time.
Anyway i understand, and i'm sure you will make the right choice.
Good luck :-)

Hey Doc,
I agree with you about training abs once or twice a week. Its good that you pointed out that the abs are worked while doing other exercises, some people might not realize that. I've been doing stiff arm pulldowns for my lats and I was amazed at how sore my abs were the next few days just from stabilizing my body.

Nice to hear a different perspective on ab training. I used the the Ab Wheel about every two days, and it hits almost the entire upper body, especially the abs. Gonna give your workout a try and see how it goes.
