Dissapointment

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

I didn’t go because I wasn’t prepared. The good news is I’ll be going to Scotland to compete in the international karate championships. Also I should be getting this job soon so I’ll be working soon.

I’ve been out of work for 6 weeks. I worked as a security officer. Then opportunites dried up. I’ve been working hard on putting my resume out through monster. I applied to at least 10 different positions. My goal is going to be a police officer however in the noontime I’m staying in the security guard/officer field I like being a security officer because of the customer service aspect. It’s weird. I thought my USMC training experince would count. Then I thought my lack of formal education was the problem so I went out and took 3 protection officer courses along with some other security officer related training. I’m still getting low offers for $9-10 an hour. It’s insulting. Even some supervisors don’t get but a few dollars more. I truly think these branch managers I’m taking to are threatened by me in some manner. It’s the human element. Which of course the lack of income has affected my karate training. I don’t go out much or to class as much. However there are some bright spots I have an interview with the local police and some possible entry level security jobs. I may have to bit the bullet and take something below my standards just to get an income going.  With the state karate championships tomorow I’ll simply do my  best with what I’ve got
