Progress

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

I showed the tapes of my fights to some masters in our Tang Soo Do association they gave me some suggestions. Since working with my condintiong coach my endurance is fine it’s my tatics during the matches I’m not pleased with and I can’t put my finger on what is it. I don’t think it’s age (26) or injuries (other than the normal wear and tear). I’m really not happy. I know I have the potentinal and ability to win Grand Champion forms and sparring. I do however know I have the will. I compete aganist anyone and I travel a couple of hours to a tournament even though I get taken out in the first round…I’ll go anyway because I love it.

Today sucked. I mean my flexability was off. I had a glazed look in my eyes all during class. I watched the video of me fighting…..PAINFUL!. Still I’ve got to spar more and compete more….back to the drawing board

Quotes

Sunday, March 11th, 2007

"Experiencing this pain in my muscles and aching and going on and on is my challenge. The last three or four reps is what makes the muscles grow. This area of pain divides a champion from someone who is not a champion. That’s what most people lack, having the guts to go on and just say they’ll go through the pain no matter what happens. I have no fear of fainting. I do squats until I fall over and pass out. So what? It’s not going to kill me. I wake up five minutes later and I’m OK. A lot of other athletes are afraid of this. So they don’t pass out. They don’t go on."
- Arnold Schwarzenegger
Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.
– Arnold Schwarzenegger

Champions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them-a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.

Muhammad Ali

The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights.

Muhammad Ali

"Whatever luck I had, I made. I was never a natural athlete, but I paid my dues in sweat and concentration and took the time necessary to learn karate and become world champion."

Chuck Norris
