Anabolic Diet Time
After following a high carb diet for several months I have decided a few things:
Carbs pack on mass like no other... unfortunately for me about 40% of the mass was fat
Carb cycling allows decent weight loss... unfortunately for me about 60% of the weight loss seemed to be muscle.
So after counting calories every day for several months eating extremely clean carbs (quinoa, oats, brown rice, brown rice cakes, sweet potatoes, and post workout tried malto, dex, and wazy maize) I found myself getting all the way up to 202 lbs and working my way back down to 175. Honestly, I did make some gains in the last few months just nothing exciting or worth the trip up to 202...
Enter the anabolic diet. I stumbled upon this diet after downloading a torrent of a library of bodybuilding e-books. The diet makes some pretty big claims about gaining leaner muscle mass while bulking and losing less muscle while cutting. The interesting thing about this diet is that it is completely different from what I was doing. This diet calls for eating 40-60% fat calories, 30-40% protein calories, and less than 30 carbs a day during the week as well as a minimum of 30 grams of fiber. Then on the weekend you do a carb load to prevent yourself from going into ketosis while reaping the benefits of a simultaneous release of growth hormone and insulin.
I was intrigued and quite shocked at first after reading this. After doing more research and reading countless pages of forum on this diet I have decided to give it a try. I will probably write about my results on this in a few months. Until then I would encourage anyone who feels like they need a change of pace to look this diet up. I know there are several places to download the book for free so don't be discouraged thinking you need to buy this thing. The low carb though is scary but as I sit here writing this I feel great and I haven't had carbs in a week, just lots and lots of fat
The author is Dr. Mauro Di Pasquale if anyone is interested.
For anyone who happens to read this I would like to note that I have not included any of the science behind why this diet works, just rest assured if you look this diet up the bizarre macro nutrient percentages are explained and backed by a convincingly large amount of research studies.
Wow.. apparently you never saw Mike Quinn in the WBF in the 90's. He was on the Dr. Pasquale diet. He probably stopped roids, and he was on a high fat diet. And guess what? He looked soft and round. You want hard muscle and thin skin. Contact an experienced trainer w/ proven results and forget about competing w/ people who illegally inject themselves w/ drugs. Doubt me, look up the WBF on youtube.
