It’s funny that at age 32 I’m in better shape than I was at age 22. So much for getting older and feeling old. I can’t wait to see how I will look and feel at age 33. I have a work-out planned for tonight and I will still hit it. So much has changed for the best since last year. Progress is very important, so I hope to be even better next year than I am right now.

I’m not a fan of leg day. I know I need it. My legs have gotten a lot stronger since January 09. My knees are the big beneficiary of this also. 95% of the time my knees feel great. I can’t wait to go play Basketball to try out my new wheels. The last time I played basketball I weighed 365 lbs.

Okay I just want to know who your fav NFL team is. Of course I’m a Dallas Cowboys fan, but I’m not to optimistic about this season. I sure hope that the offense can make it happen this year. With T.O. gone we sure need others to step it up. I predict 8 and 8 this season. Okay who’s your fav, and what do you think they will do this season?

For a while now I have had people say "hey man you are wasting away". Wasting away is usually disease related or a state of deteriorating. That is not a good thing. Me being the low key guy that I am I just smile and say I’m just trying to loose weight and be healthy. Now these people have known me for about 8 plus years and they have seen me at my heaviest weight. Now when I was 365 lbs they would have been in a better position to tell me that I was wasting away. I have been able to loose weight and from what I can tell keep the little muscle that I already had plus add some. I have increased weight on every lift since I started in Jan. Should I just keep smiling at these fools or should I tell them to get a life?

I plan to mix heavy lifts in my weight training for the next 4 weeks.
Workout 1: Chest / Triceps / Back - 2 sets heavy weight 6-8 reps 2 sets lighter weight 10-12 reps followed by abs and 15 min HIIT cardio
Workout 2: Legs - 2 sets heavy weight 6-8 reps 2 sets lighter weight 10-12 reps followed by abs and 15 min HIIT cardio
Workout 3: Biceps / shoulders / forearms - 2 sets heavy weight 6-8 reps lighter weight 10 -12 reps followed by abs and 15 min HIIT cardio
On non lifting days I plan to do 30 min HIIT cardio and Ab workouts. Lets see what results I will get.

I once set this goal of 225 like 6 years ago. Yes it has been many years and many failed diets and workout programs along the way. I never thought in my wildest dreams that "I" could weigh 225 lbs. I once weighed 365 pounds so it was not possible in my head. My freshman year in high school I weighed 225 lbs at 5′ 10", and it was crazy to think that I could weigh that again at 6′3". For those wondering I have been over weight since about the age of 12, and it has been brutal. I know that 225 is still over weight for my height but it’s still great to think that I am close to reaching it.

After reaching this milestone on my journey to great fitness I fell much better physically. When I stand up from sitting on the ground it no longer takes me forever to do so, and when I do get my 6′ 3" frame up I’m not exhausted. I still have some nasty fat in miscellaneous areas to remove, but I know that with time it will come. I will continue changing my work-out routines to keep out boredom, because that can happen to anyone. I did not think that back in Jan 09 that I would loose 100 lbs, and it feels great to have done so. I know that I have other goals to reach until I am satisfied with the way I will feel about my body, so I will keep pushing. For every rep, set, push, pull, pound, drop of sweat, and muscle strain I’m glad to have gone through it. Reaching a goal is great then you know that you had to work hard to get to it.

I must say that I have not been so taxed after 1 week of working out in moths. The first week is a research week of finding the right resistance for each exercise. I can wait to see what results I will have after 3 more weeks of this.

Okay today I did my first Tabata session, and man did it kick my butt. I did a routine in the past were I did 3 sets to failure for each exercise but it was nothing like this. Tabata is tough. I made sure to fast carb up (haribo gummi bears) with my whey protein after my workout to help with recovery. Now I see why it is only recomended that you workout 1 muscle group a week on this.

Workout plan for the next 2 to 4 weeks. Tabata plan will involve 20 sec workout periods and 10 sec rest periods, and 8 sets for each exercise. I got my Gymboss timer (gymboss.com) now and I can time myself better than with a stop watch. This timer was also just $20. Tabata / abs 3 days a week and cardio 2 days a week. My first session is today, and I hope it’s a butt kicker.
Tabata workout 1: Chest / Calves / Triceps / Forearms / abs
Tabata workout 2: Quads / Biceps / Back / abs
Tabata workout 3: Hams / Lats / Shoulders / Traps / abs
