Days When Your Workout SUX!
It doesn’t happen very often, but today it did. I’m back to week 1 of my 12 week routine and excited about seeing my progress on the weights. I have had such good luck with Lee Hayward’s 12 week routine that I’m going to do it again. All my sets have been progressing and I am DEFINITELY stronger. But what happens today…..my frieking workout sux! It pisses me off to no end. I’ve been looking so forward to this week. All my big lifts have progressed substantially the past 12 weeks. I’m talking close to 80 lbs on my deadlift, 20 lbs on my squat, 5-10 lbs on arm lifts, legs are comming along nicely and what happens after my entire body is stronger????? I’ll tell you what…..my daggum incline bench is no better and a bit worse than it was 12 frieking weeks ago!! My nutrition was in order today just as it has been 90% of the time all routine long. I didn’t get the sleep I wanted last night, but that has happened before and my workout didn’t suffer. Why the heck does every muscle in my body get stronger and all my lifts progress nicely or at least a little bit, but the one that matters the most IS WEAKER THAN IT WAS before I STARTED this daggum routine. I am seriously biting my tongue here. Its almost enough to wonder why I even try……….

Don’t give up Hoss. What exercise(s) did you try before maxing on the incline bench? Did you pre-exhaust some muscles? How long was your work-out? How many sets/reps do you use to train your chest? All these things have a bearing on your max. Just don’t give up!

Thanks for the words of encouragment D Weightlifter. I didn’t max today. It was the first thing on my list and I’m sure I warmed up sufficiently along with the warming my rotator cuffs. I didn’t pre-exhaust any muscles. It is a simple 5×5 set up for the 1st 3 weeks. Personally, chest is the only area that I don’t think Lee’s 12 week program hits hard enough. I believe I am going to start adding in a few things for the ol chest. Chest, respectively, has always been my weakest area and it has nothing to do with form. It just doesn’t progress like other parts of my body. I’m not going to give up, but I tell ya, it’ll get ya down. Thanks for your time Bro.

I know exactly how you feel. I’ve had that except sometimes, it extends inot workout weeks! Hopefully, next time will be much better though.

The only thing I hate more is the days when my workout sucks AND everyone in the gym seems to have gained 10-15 lbs and i have lost 20
