WTF???

August 6, 2009

Today was leg and ab day.  I’m on the leg press with 360lbs plus whatever the bar itself weighs.  Onto my second set and about half way through, some lady feels it necessary to interrupt me halfway through to tell me about push ups!?  Why do people do that?  Way to ruin a good set.  Still one more to go, pile on some more weight, push through it and carry on.  I feel its damn bad etiquette to interrupt when your in the middle of something, at least wait until the person is finished.  That’s my beef for the week, lol.

It’s Been a While

June 11, 2009

I haven’t written in a while, figure I would this morning.  Today I trained at a different gym due to mine being closed for the morning.  They have this thing here called Davis Day.  It’s a day to remember the local miners that have died or worked in the mines years ago.  These mines have since been shut down, but the town I live in still honers them.  Which, I think is kind of cool.  Down town they have these statues, stones that have the miners names, and this is where they have the  memorial service.  The whole town shuts down for the morning.  The kids still have to go to school of course, but only for the morning.  So, this is when I decided to cram my work out in.

I had to drive into Sydney (next closest town that doesn’t celebrate Davis Day), and work out there.  It was leg and ab day today, so I figure I would be safe doing this at another gym? Right?  Well, legs didn’t go so well, it was a write off.  I did do them, but the equipment was really different, even the weights were weird, lol.  I did do everything I usually do, but just some different equipment, which isn’t a bad thing.  Keeps things confusing, haha.  Abs on the other hand went great!  There was a ton of equipment for that.  I was stoked to use some different things.  Hopefully I will be able to breathe tomorrow, haha!  They also had some different cardio equipment then my gym, so it was awesome trying out some different stuff.

In about another month I get to see my family again from out west, and I get to see my husband, wooo hoooooo, (on the husband part, lol)!  I got to see him breifly in April for about 6 hours in total over a 2 day period, talk about a big tease!  He has been gone since January 10th and I am super proud of him and what he is doing.  I just can’t wait for all this training for the military to be finished, so that we can have our lives somewhat back to narmal.  What ever that is, haha!  Anyway, I am stoked to see them all, and so is my daughter Julyssa.  She misses her daddy like crazy!  Anyways, enough of my complaining!  Take care til next time, cheers!

HAha! I didn’t yak!

May 7, 2009

Lol, I have been told horror stories about this kick boxing class I went to last night, and most first timers that go, don’t make it through with out throwing up.  I am proud to say that I didn’t, lol!  It was tough, especially after doing a leg and ab work out in the morning then going to that in the evening.  It was a lot of fun, and high endurance.  I can’t wait to go again.  Although, all the hard work I put into gaining weight I lost last night.  So back to square one, lol.  Needless to say I won’t be going to kick boxing on a regular basis, just a once in a while thing.  I really enjoyed it though and got to meet some new people.  It was packed and full of all age groups.  I was impressed that some of the older people were able to keep up and beating some of the younger ones, very impressive!  It was about 2 hours non stop, great cardio!  I have a bruised butt and hip though, lol, it will heal.

I did a full chest and shoulder work out this morning, and my strength wasn’t as good as it normally is due to last night.  It’s amazing how much that drained my strength.  I pushed myself anyways though, and completed my work out, and didn’t do any cardio as it wasn’t needed.

Anyways, just wanted to share that I had a blast last night being a newbie to kick boxing.  It was awesome!!!

Training Progress

April 29, 2009

It has been a few weeks that I have been working out with a trainer 3 days a week.  I have noticed a difference in the weights that I use and the over all improvements in my body/definition.  Today was the first time I worked back with him and it was not what I thought it was going to be.  We didn’t do a whole lot of things, less than I expected anyways, seeing as I have had my ass kicked in every work out, (not that it didn’t today either, haha).  I did Back, Biceps and Triceps all today.  Some of the exercises I didn’t do a lot of weight, which I was surprised, but where I left off is where I will be starting next week, so I imagine I will be a hurting unit next week, lol.  I love the bi and tri stuff he got me to do.  I get an awesome pump on doing them.  My forearms get ripped and hard, making it tough to grip stuff.  In a good way though!  I have been working on grip strength which is always a challenge on the left hand, but it has improved 10 fold since I started lifting weights.  He has be rotating legs and abs with an upper body part, and I am not used to working my legs this much, but they need it.
So, I got my honey to sign up for this site, to see what all the fuss is about (Joseph_Doyle).  He’s only been on here a few days and is still off doing training.  I hope this site motivates him the way it motivates me when I need it, lol.  Check him out, he has made a ton of progress since he left for basic.  Gonna send him a goody basket of stuff to help him out now that basic is done and he can train as often as he wants now.

Anyways, cheers til next time!

Bi’s Tri’s Back

April 24, 2009

I had an amazing workout this morning!  I was stoked to do the pyramid’s this morning for bicep’s and rocked it!  I love that work out.  Worked on triceps until I was ready to cry.  I only did a few back workouts this AM as I already did back this week.  By the time I was done this morning, my water bottle was heavy, lol.  What a morning, I am still pumped!  Just thought I would share, lol!  Take care!

Feeling Good!

April 22, 2009

Day 5 with the trainer.  It is going really well.  I am truly enjoying this and the motivation I am getting from having someone push me along.  Abs are starting to finally show, which I am stoked about.  I don’t think I have seen them since I was 14, lol.  Legs are getting more shape and strength. Calories are up.  I never realized that when trying to gain good weight, you would be so damn full by the end of the day.  Trying to cram that food in there is hard, lol.  I finished around 1800 calories yesterday.  Worked on chest and shoulders yesterday.  We found a weak spot when doing latteral raises on the machine, I had a hell of a time getting it up.  I thought for sure my shoulders were stronger than that, but oh well, something I need to work on.  Everything seems to be progressing nicely, and I am very pleased with that.  Tomorrow I will be working out later in the day, not used to that.  Have to go and get a windshield installed on my truck so that it will pass inspection, lol. They are pretty strict about that stuff out here compared to Alberta.  SHould only take a couple of hours, then it’s off to the gym to do back and arms.  That’s a full day tomorrow!  Anyway, take care!

Legs/Abs/Calves

April 20, 2009

This morning was awesome with my trainer!  I love having someone to push me through a work out and learning new things.  Some of this stuff I have never done, nor would I normally do.  Although this morning, I thought I was going to throw up or die, lol.  It was pretty intense.  I was impressed with myself for sticking to it and not giving in.  I was doing the hip/thigh abductor, and he said that we are going to do this for a warm up.  He put it on 65lbs, and I’m giving ‘er on it.  I hit around 30 and I’m still going and he hasn’t told me to stop yet.  So, I ask, Mac, how many of these are we doing for this ‘warm up’?  He says keep going.  By now I’m around 60 of these.  My butt, hips and thighs are starting to cramp and I’m wiggling around in this thing.  There is no way I am going to stop until told other wise.  Mean while, he’s thinking when is she going to give in?  I lost count after 75.  All I could think is, my legs are going to fall off.  Mac asked me if I’m going to quit?  I said NO!  He said I was relentless and to stop, lol.  FINALLY!  This was the start of my training today.  He put me through the wringer.  A few times I thought I was going to get sick.  There wasn’t much for breaks in between exercises and sets.  But I made it!  Tomorrow we will be doing shoulders and arms.

We had talked about diet.  I have been keeping track lately of what I am consuming. The protien, calories and what not.  He asked me to bring it in today, so I did.  Yesterday I was upwards of 1700 calories and about 120 grams of protien.  I thought I ate like a champ yesterday, but apparently not, lol.  I have to up the calories to put on the good weight.  He said my protien intake was good though and to keep it where it’s at.  So, we’ll see where I am at today at days end.  I should make it.  I need to figure something out for on the go stuff, so I have something quick and easy instead of it always being a shake.  I already have 2 of those a day and am unsure if I should have more than that a day????

On a completely different note, I got to see my husband last week, hence being awol from the gym, and strayed from the diet.  I am so proud of him.  He graduated second out of the guys, and got the commradship award.  He is officially a private now.  He dropped 39lbs since leaving for basic.  I was worried, because the pictures I seen of him he just looked ill.  But when I saw him in person, those pictures did not do him any justice!  He looks hot!  Lol, but really he does, and he’s healthy.  I really am proud of him and what he has done so far.  Now he’s off for more training (20 weeks).  I will be glad when that’s all done and we can carry on with our lives and know where we will be.

Anyways, keep you posted on whether I live or not tomorrow through my next work out, lol.  Take care, Cheers!

Impressed w/ Legs!

April 14, 2009

Day 2 of working with a trainer went really well this AM.  We again, did  a lot of things that I normally wouldn’t do, or haven’t done.  Foe instance, I did actual squats, (on a piece of equipment), instead of the sissy ones that I would opt to do, lol.  I was very surprised by the amount of weight that I was doing.  I am very thankful to have someone that pushes me and adds the weight to the bar, him knowing full well that I can do the weight when sometimes I don’t have the confidence in myself to think that I can do it.  We did a few calf exercises, and I just started working them in the last couple f weeks.  So they have only been worked 3 times, (that includes today).  I could feel the burn and the intensity while I was working them.  Damn they are hard!  No wonder I stayd away from them, lol.  The legs are such a powerful muscle goup, I wish I would have paid more attention to them and started working them a long time ago.

Again, I was given a few pointers about my cardio.  I was told not to do as much as my legs are going to get too skinny, and I don’t really want that.  I kind of like the size that they urrently are, but with more deffinition, that never hurts :)   So, I will have to cut that down.  I am not certain to how much or how little, I forgot to ask and he forgot to tell me as I was rushing to get out of there.

As I write this, I am sitting in Halifax airport waiting to go to Montreal to see my husband, whom I have not seen since January 10th.  I cannot wait!  Only a few more hours!  I should be boarding in the next hour or s, it’s pretty quiet here right now. So, I think I’m gonna grab a bite and wait for the departing plane!

Take Care & Cheers!

Bi’s & Tri’s

April 13, 2009

Today was the first day with somebody training me.  It was pretty intense for me!  What a difference in a work out having somebody there to push you along.  I did not do a ton of weight, but the work outs were different than what I would normally do, so they were actually hard.  I had an awesome pump on.  My fore arms were jacked and rock hard, the veins were everywhere, lol!

I had a few things explained to me today and they make sense.  I have this thing what I like to call ‘fat girl syndrome’.   If I want to compete next April, which I do, I have to gain at least 10lbs of healthy weight, so that when it comes time to compete, I will be cutting that weight instead of my muscle and losing size.  After being over weight for those 5 years, in the back of my head, I am terrified of becoming that person again.  So, I eat enough calories to maintain my size that I currently am now.  Hence the ‘fat girl syndrome’.  I have to get over that.  I will never be that person again.  I have to eat more to feed and fuel my body and muscles.  I understand it all in my head, but actually forcing myself to do it, is another thing.  I make smarter decisions now about what I eat then what I did then. So it’s not like I am filling my body now with pop and junk, it’s good things.  And I have to remember that those good things aren’t going to put mass amounts of bad weight back onto me.  The sooner I can get over this the better.  My trainer told me to throw my scale away for at least a month and not to weigh myself.  I have a tenancy to beat myself up the gym the next day if the scale has changed too much.  And I know for those of you reading this, I am not a big person, and you probably think I am crazy, lol.  But some of you that have had transformations, kind of understand where I am coming from.  I am going to make this promise to myself, to stay away from the damn scale, and to put those healthy 10lbs on, so that when it is competition time, I am cutting the right weight.  I can do this, I know I can.  I do have quite a bit of time before there are any competitions in my area.  I have decent size now, and I think decent definition.  I just need a little good push and some help along the way to make it to where I want to be, and to do it the right way.

Tomorrow we are going to be doing legs.  My calves are still a little tender from Saturday, so it should be interesting tomorrow, but I am looking forward to it.  I am sure he will have me doing things that I would normally not do, and that’s  a good thing for me.  I have gotten bored with the exercises I have been doing, and it’s great to change things up.

I am not a quitter, I will do this!
