Six weeks

June 15, 2009

I have set intermediate goals for the next six weeks and will report of my results on August 1, 2009.  I intend to lose 30 pounds over the next six weeks.  How am I going to do that?  Glad you asked…I have a plan… .  First my amazing wife (a smart, sexy medical doctor AND newly certified NSCA fitness trainer.  I know… I’m a lucky guy) has set me up a weight training program.  I’ll do 2 days upper each week and two days lower.  I will also do cardio of some sort every day.  For cardio, I’m going to do spinning classes first thing in the morning or do other cardio while wearing a heart rate monitor.  I’ll do HITT programs to burn the fat off of me.  I also intend to swim again just because I used to enjoy it so much.  One of my goals is to be able to swim a mile without stopping and I would love to get involved with Master’s swim competitions, etc.  I can’t get there without getting wet–so into the pool.  Hope I’m not harpooned by mistake.  I will also continue walking with my wife at night.

Now, I hear that fitness is a half training and half proper diet.  I don’t know if that’s accurate or in fact rather than a breakdown in percentages it’s actually more of a synergy where proper diet enhances better training.  My hunch is that it’s a synergy between the two and both are integral to achieve good fitness and good health.  I have a calorie counter and nutrition anaylzer program called Lose It! on my I-Phone and I’ve been using it with good success.  Great program and it was free.  2436 net healthy calories a day along with my workouts should bring me to my objective.  I’ll post my results along the way but on August 1st I WILL weigh less than 285 pounds and be far more healthy for the positive effort.

Already looking forward to a good snow year next fall.  I intend to weigh less than 240 pounds before I buckle up my boots again.  Stay tuned.

50 and not over

March 9, 2008

I have slipped to a state of such poor fitness that it threatens my health and robs me of my ambition and happiness.  Well, they say you have to hit rock bottom and today and foe quite a few days before this I feel I’m there.  I don’t want to be another obituary picture of a heart attack victim and I desperately want to be the athlete that I used to be.  Once again.  So today, I stubbled across this website and saw some of the other remarkable transformations and I want to be like you.  I want to feel the flow of life again.  So, I will workout everyday, eat well everyday, and then blog everyday about my progress through my transformation.  I will transform my self from 321 lbs at 30.7% bodyfat  to 210 lean, heathy, athletic and muscular lbs at 6% bodyfat before the end of 2008.  That is my public promise to myself.  I welcome all the support any reader can provide.

Welcome!
