INBF Washington State 2008

August 10, 2008

Well, this was my main show for the year and I couldn’t have been happier….well not much! :)

Lets start this from the Peak week:

Monday - 2 Gal of Water, real high carbs, depletion workout #1, 2 sessions of cardio

Tuesday - 3 Gal of Water, lower carbs, depletion workout #2, 2 sessions of cardio, last tanning session (yes, black bodybuilders do use the tanning booth close to competition time)

Wednesday - 3 ½ Gal Water, even lower carbs, total body depletion workout #3, 2 sessions of cardio

Thursday - 2 ½ Gal Water, minimal carbs, no lifting, a little abs and 1 session of light cardio

Friday - I actually packed away about 2 Gal of Water by the end of the day (I am no longer on that B.S. of cutting water the day before!), a little more carbs, no cardio, no weights, just relaxing…I even went a saw a movie at night (Batman)….oh yeah…3 coats of Pro-tan throughout the day!

*Saturday* - Wake up early, jog around the area for 30 min, 1 coat of Pro-tan, then I started eating carbs and stuff and traveled to the venue….INBF has the best shows as far as accommodating the athletes with food, a large area to walk around and pump up, as well as plenty of awesome folks to help oil up and get you ready. I ate every hour or so, steak pieces and a rice cakes, yams or other carbs…also I was sipping on a mixture of Scivation’s X-tend and Vasocharge mixed with a splash of coffee! (a special shout-out to you Lance and Derek!)…then before hitting the stage I ate about half a twix bar….

the result!……

The morning show went pretty well. Me and Patty were up first in the whole show for mixed pairs! We did a routine to “Mission Impossible” and it was fantastic! (Thank you Denise for coming up with it off the top of her head by the way). I had a little time to kill between divisions and I talked to most all the competitors who were saying that I looked much better this time around than in previous shows. I talked to a lot of the people I see on Bodybuilding.com and I like to say that it’s true…you do become a family backstage with all the athletes.  You see familiar faces from shows you do all year long. Well….. it was time for me to get ready for my Open division…….here we go!….I felt good with posing although I have to work out one aspect of this in the future…sweating!…I sweat profusely on stage with those lights! I have to wipe it off midway through and sometimes I feel that it hurts my posture having to do that!…We finished and I left the place and went home since I live pretty close!…I took a cold shower, then reapplied 1 coat of pro-tan and took a small nap…then left again for the venue.

At the night show Me and Patty started the show again and I did my personal routine later that night…….the awards?……..

With the absolutely phenomenal help of Kevin and Denise James at Team United Fitness I was able to capture 1st place in Mixed Pairs with my partner Patty Smith and later, I ended up taking 1st place in the Light-Heavyweight Open Men….(versus absolutely stunning competition considering that the guy who took 2nd place ended up getting his pro card in the Masters division)!…

The overall……..I posed my butt off and ended up sweating heavily again…..in the end… the pro card went to……

Brad Loomis!……… This guy was ultimately shredded to the max!…what are we talkin’…2%…lower?..WOW!…..I saw Brad in Sac, CA a few weeks before and he nearly won the overall there for being so shredded…..Brad is a class act and absolutely deserved to win…he will be giving the pros a run for their money soon!…take a look!…(wrong direction!)

I wish you all the best in the future Brad!

At the end of the show, I also landed myself the Most Improved Award!…I was also interviewed by the local paper afterward.

It was a long night and the after party was great at the Mexican Resturant, I got stuck behind road construction traffic on the way home for an extra 45 min and when I got home I crashed and slept and slept and slept……….

I would like to thank….

Mom and Dad!…. I love you both! And all my family!….I couldn’t ask for any better family than the one I have!

Carrie, someone very special who supported me every step of the way!

My brother, Bill for mixing my cuts and getting me the music!

My friends and coworkers who caught me a few times eating things that I shouldn’t.

Scivation products

All the competitors who do "real" natural bodybuilding

All the people who helped out backstage, all of you make this the best org in town!

Patty Smith, my partner for mixed pairs…she is awesome and we will be taking this show on the road next time!

Last, but certainly not least I’d like to thank 100% Kevin and Denise James @ United Fitness, without their help, I’d be doing this show again using my own diet which just wasn’t cutting it for the past few years…my only regret is that I didn’t come to them a lot sooner and have them do my diet, nutrition and planning….you guys are the best!

Oh!….All the athletes and people on Bodybuilding.com !!!!!!!

I’ll try to get photos up as soon as I can!

Thanks!

Tony Quincy

Results- Sacramento

July 14, 2008

Well, I had another show this past weekend, the Capital City Classic in Sacramento CA and I must say this is the best I have ever looked. Many of the people I’ve been working with, competing with, judges and others have said this is the best they’ve seen me look as well. I placed 2nd of 3 competitors. The guy who beat me was absolutely phenomenal and deserved to win.

Not to make excuses…but now it’s time for the show I’ve been looking forward to all year. The INBF Washington State Championship in my own backyard. I absolutely plan on competing as a light-heavyweight and being as lean as possible. I’ll have had the benefit of competing recently and I’ll be totally dialed in with some small last meal adjustments that I’ve just discovered from the last show and will be bringing the best to this show and land my pro card in the process!

Ok, Ok, I’ve had my fun!

September 5, 2007

It’s been about 3 weeks since the show.  Yes!.. I’ve gained back ALL the pre-contest weight and I love it.  I’ve hit the gym fairly regular since then, and I’ve even done my regular sessions of pre-contest cardio to compensate for the fact that my post contest diet has not been that clean.  My plan was to take 1 entire year off from competing to gain some size, but now my thoughts are that I can’t wait a full year and I actually miss pre-contest dieting!

Nevertheless, I have something to shoot for!…….I am attending the Olympia ‘07 in Vegas at the end of the month and I want to look fairly decent so for the next few days I will be whittling away at the "bad food" in the fridge (…no, there isn’t that much.) and eating as clean as possible.

3 weeks to gamblin’, drinkin’, dancin’ …..and maybe even some flexin’!….a den of debauchery!….

…I can’t wait!   :)

2 Weeks out

July 28, 2007

Well, It’s two weeks from today for my next show.  I ended up doing the very thing you’re not supposed to do and cram an ass-load of cardio into a week, dropping 10 lbs (yes, 10 lbs!) in the process, probably disintegrating some muscle along with the fat but I really wanted to get my waist under control and now I am only a few pounds away from making weight which should come off with a nice carb depletion.  Finally, my skin is also thinning out!

Today I’m going to spend most of the day cooking food for the next few days, posing and reviewing video of my last few shows to pick myself apart and improve.

This time I will not come in FLAT & SKINNY!  I will have ample amount of time to carb-up properly without worrying about making a weight!

Until next time!

Well, this is my first blog on this site

July 8, 2007

Well, this is my first blog on this site

I am 5 weeks from a show in Wash. I ate the last of my bad meals until the show (don’t worry, I’m an ectomorph and can lose weight by the tens in a week if necessary) although I know this is not ideal.

I’ve written this next haiku on another site before, but I know that written here, it will be appreciated perhaps more than any other place on the web:

Dieting

After weeks and weeks of dieting, I have come to the following simple conclusions:

Nothing tastes like sugar except for sugar!

Nothing tastes like salt except for salt!

Nothing tastes like fat except for fat!

Nothing tastes like bread except for bread!

Happy dieting!

Welcome!
