I’m extremely shy and get easily intimidated around guys and because of this…..I’ve never joined a gym. Since I’ve hit a plateau with my weights at home and I want to push my body further…I finally got some guts and joined a gym today! I’m so excited, but really nervous :s See I have this slight problem….I know its all in my head and I can just psych myself out……but seriously what guy doesn’t check out chicks at the gym?(I honestly don’t check out the dudes, I’m there to workout not flirt/hookup). I don’t want to be looked at…I want to be comfortable working out. To prove my point, when I got my membership earlier this evening and I was getting a tour of the gym, EVERY single guy was checking me out [I took my friend Ash with me so I didn’t feel so alone, she’s was the one keeping an eye out for me]-(I was wearing vans, jeans, and a t-shirt-completely casual). Not that it’s a totally bad thing(being checked out), but come on. Idk, maybe I’m over analyzing….is it like this in any other gym? Also when the guy at the front desk asked me if I had any goals(the owner), I said yup, I want to lower my BF% and gain muscle, he gave me this smart smirk with a crooked smile…like(yeeeah okay). I felt like I was already being judged, wtf’s up with that!?(way to make me feel comfortable). I’m a newbie….anybody got some psycho/social(confidence building) advice for me. It’s hard for me to ignore the fact that I’m being checked out, so any chicks out there got some tips, it would be much appreciated…….and non of that mind over matter mumbo jumbo. Thanks! -peace… ;D
