Exhausted

May 21, 2009

So, I went to the doctor earlier this week to the surprise of my trainer (I guess he’s more used to seeing people focusing solely on getting better them selves than trusting a professional)  He was happy I went.  I had a number of things I had to do and felt like I was at a more than routine check up.  I had to have orthotics replaced (for those that don’t know they are placed in your shoes when there is an arch problem, mine effects my hips) which is something I should’ve handled a few years ago.  but the main thing I’m dealing with is, I’m not sleeping well.  I get to bed and don’t try to stay up late but I only sleep for roughly 2 hours at a time and it sucks.  I don’t know what it is.  So, the doctor put me on melatonin.  I just got the stuff in the mail today and I’m hoping it works because I’m not only feeling like I’m at a plateau I feel like I’m getting weaker.  I lift more, I eat more, I take my supps.  Nothing is working.  If anyone has any sleep solutions let me know.  I don’t know if I’m stressed or what, I know graduation is approaching but I know I’m going to be fine in that regard.  But if anyone knows of any other ideas I want to nip this as quickly as I can.

Alcohol

April 19, 2009

So I was invited out for some of my friends’ birthdays this weekend and had a few beers, nothing crazy.  I had 5 over the course of 2 days.  But dear God!  I feel like I ate a damn salt lick, my abs went from popping and awesome on Friday too, blah and bloated today.  This sucks and it’s totally not cool.  This is why I don’t drink often, I feel and look so much better with out alcohol in my diet.  I’m not hung over by any means I just feel so full and I don’t like it.

Monday it’s back to the daily grind and there will be no more of these exploits for a long time.  But I do want to know if there is anything I can have without getting this shitty bloated feeling.  I mean, my girlfriend works at a bar and I hate turning people down repeatidly when they offer me drinks I just feel bad about it.  Any one has any advice please hit me up, I’m doing so good right now and I don’t want to wreck my progress.

Weight Lifting Class

March 30, 2009

Alright, so I am starting a weight lifting class at OSU today.  I needed another credit in order to graduate on time and this seemed like a good idea seeing as it’s something I love.  From what I understand, it’s supposed to be like having a personal trainer 3 days a week for 10 weeks.  We’ll see how this goes, hopefully I can make some good gains before I’m done.  But this should be cool, although I’m not gonna stop my 5 day set up.  I like the way my body is starting to react, but a big thing for me is lowering my overall bodyfat from 10% to around 5%.

Falling Apart

February 24, 2009

The stress of school, trying to find work, pending graduation, searching for a career, and life in general is weighing on me immensely.  I’m in a rut!  I know what I need to do, and I know what I should be doing.  But honestly that stuff doesn’t mean shit unless I get off my ass.  The hard part is, I can’t get myself to do anything other than school because I can’t afford to not graduate this spring.  I want to get there and I plan on getting there but I’m not a naturally book smart individual, I have to work my ass off and at the end of it all it’s late and I’m still trying to figure out how I’m gonna drag myself out of bed in a mere 4 hours.

I don’t know where my motivation went, I feel as though all of my goals are slowly fading away and it upsets me.  About a year ago I began my transformation and re-entry into competition Taekwondo and it started to take off incredibly.  Unfortunately, I was sidelined as quickly as I came up due to a painful injury.  After this I began to backslide slowly, but that slippery slope began to pickup pace the longer I let it go.

I’m not going for a "whoa is me" here, I just needed an avenue to vent and simply announce to myself that there is a problem.  Because no one else in my life had said anything about it and I knew somethingwas going on but you just can’t talk to people who don’t understand.  I know where I want to be and I know what I have to do to achieve it.  Now I just have to get back out there and do it.  From what I’ve been told over the course of my life, I know what to do in order to achieve my goal but the focus needs to be on those goals even more.

If anyone has any advice or assistance, I’d happily accept it.  Right now, I need all of the help I can get.  I may not be fighting anymore, but I have been recieving requests to train individuals and I don’t think its fair to them if I’m not at my best to tell them how to get to their best.  I am however hoping to enter the area of law enforcement after graduation and desperately need to be in incredible physical shape in order to standout as a top candidate.

Blu Frog Energy and Limu

January 27, 2009

I’m not usually the guy who’s into energy drinks.  I’ll stick with my proteins, amino acids, and vitamins to keep my energy up, but about a year ago my mom started drinking this new I guess they call it a "super-food supplement" called Limu.  Well, apparently the idea behind the product is that this ingredient Fucodian is found in this form of sea weed and nowhere else on the planet.  The drink basically helps your body function more properly; restful sleep, more energy, increases mobility, healthy cell growth and improved immune system.  Well, I was honestly skeptical about the whole thing and basically said "Yeah, whatever."

To give some background, my mother was diagnosed with systemic Lupus more than 15 years ago since then I’ve seen her constantly exhausted, weak, and often sick.  For those of you who don’t know about Lupus it is an autoimmune disease where basically your body has this excessive amount of inflammation because it is attacking itself instead of foreign infections. Since she was diagnosed there have been brief stints of remission but overall there has been more rough than smooth sailing when it comes to her symptoms.

Back to my story, well she started drinking this Limu product about a year ago and at first it didn’t do much but after about 4 weeks there was a real change.  Something I hadn’t seen since I was in Elementary school.  My mom was up and about running around, joking,  and basically living her life.  The swelling in her joints was down, her energy was up, and she said she had been sleeping through the night for the first time in years.  Now my story isn’t like "Oh, go buy this!" or anything like that.  But, the same company has found another; and I believe more practical; application for the "super ingredient".  They have successfully created and are marketting a good for you energy drink, it is called BLU FROG.  The crazy thing is, BLU FROG is currently not available in any stores but only from the company itself and it is delivered directly to your house.  My mom convinced me to give it a try, knowing full well I’m just a cup of coffee type of guy.  I honestly hate the tastes of Red Bull, Moster, and pretty much every other energy drink (Original SOBE isn’t too bad) But, I’ve got to admit this one actually tastes good.  Everything in it is natual; no artifical colors, flavors, or sugars.  I mean, it has only 68 calories compared to the 110 in a standard RedBull and 140 in a RockStar.  It contains B1, B7, and B9; none of which are in RedBull, Rockstar, or Monster.  And it has 3x the B12 that they contain as well.  Most importantly, it has that Fucodian ingredient that I mentioned earlier.

If you’re interested in it let me know, I’m taking it and I love it thus far.  I’ve actually gone almost a week without any coffee at all, which is a big step for me considering I’ve been drinking at least a cup a day since I was 9.

For more info and to order a case for yourself check it out on-line at BLU FROG Energy.com.  Also let me know if you have any questions about how it’s working for me.  And be sure to let me know if you do try it and how you feel about it.

Oh, I almost forgot.  For everyone out there that is all natural, or college athletes.  There are no illegal substances in here at all.  Just an extra tid bit.  And hey, think about getting hopped up on healthy.
