Getting Started…

For 16 years, I played football. The last 8 years of that, I spent working out constantly to get bigger. I was a lineman so I really wasn’t worried with "cutting" lifts. I wanted bulk, strength, and stamina. After my last college football game, I swore off working out for a while. I had lost all love for it. That was in 1999. For 4 years, I went through phases of loving it and hating it. That is until I found out some news that floored me.

In August of 2004, I found out that I had developed Type II diabetes as a result of my eating habits and lack of exercise. Over the course of my football career, I had been very active on the field, in the gym, etc. so I was able to maintain a healthy body even though I was eating like crazy. Well, it all caught up with me at this time and I was weighing a whoppin 397 lbs. WOW..I knew I was getting big, but that was damn rediculous.

Over the next year, I really concentrated on that and lost down to 298 lbs. Then came the fluxuations..up some, down some. Gained back up to 345 in late 2007 at my peak. Come Jan 1st, 2008, I promised myself I was going to get into shape. Ive since lost down to 308 but I am at, what seems to be, a huge block wall. I just can’t break past that 305 mark.

So today, 06/13/2008, I found this site and seen Charts that people keep of their progress. I think that is a super good thing and maybe it will be what I need to really motivate me to push myself that much more to lose the weight I wanna lose. My goal is 260 with a 36-38 inch waiste. I think that would be a great size for a guy with my bulk.  I guess we’ll see in the end huh??
