No workout today

I have an early appointment, and two afternoon appointments. 

so it’s an off day, though I might go bonzai on some 50 lb db’s before bed. 

I’ll try to eat good, but it will be cutting close to get to all the places today, I am planning to keep Marathon Oil in business for the next year all with one day of driving.

Weird day yesterday

Went without carbs for most of the day.  Ended up getting a bit dizzy and disoriented about food - forgot to eat.  No problem, I am still on track.  Only lost 2 lbs - you goota believe those are the good pounds to lose.  going to do the pushups now. 

breakfast was a protein shake and omelette.  I’ll have a yogurt and protein bar after the pushups.

Whoo hoo! 170

I made it back to 170 lbs.  Mostly protein, so I am bulking clean.  Lot’s of cardio, heavy lifting, and calestenics. 

I am keeping it low body fat and insisting that I can bulk.  Just eating a lot of protein and enough carbs to stay awake.  I’ve been hammering the yogurt and fish and shrimp and nuts and chicken and etc.  a bit of rice here and there.  watching the sodium. 

I have pics from a few weeks ago too.  I just need some time to get them posted.

I was asleep, now I am awake.

Damn! forgot to turn of the alarm clock.  It went off at 5:45 on a Saturday morning.  Now I am awake.  What was I thinking.

Now, most people would just go back to sleep, and I am very tired.  However, the DOMS are burning.  Arms, legs, butt, back even my chest which never feels DOMS is getting a bit.  So now I am sleepy, and can’t sleep.  I can close my eyes, and even drift away, but then POW, I am back awake.  It’s like being dipped in bengay.

I should get up and get some protein and potassium, but it is 6:30 on a Saturday mornning.  I don’t want to do that.   I am hoping that babbling hear will make me sleepy.

Quick trip to the gym tonight.

I went yesterday morning, and had a good work out.  did squats and got to 3×10 at 225.  did the standing calf raises too at 155.

Last night was perfect pushups.  you know, you shoudn’t do laying overhead extensions in the morning if you are planning on a few hundred pushups at night.

So I went back tonight because there was nothing else to do with my time.  did some squats and a few things I haven’t done in a while. 

but while there, it occurred to me.  I am making a push for more mass.  These things tend to be decided for me, they just happen.  But I have been eating a lot more, cutting carbs a bit in favor of protein, and lifting heavier.  Numbers are up and sets are up.  Yup, I think that’s what it is.  I am pushing for mass.  Cool.

the dog is getting used to this running thing

working in the corporate world is soooo boring.  when you take a break, you go to the water cooler and talk about work.  But working for myself out of the house is soooo much better.  break time is pushups or dumbbells, or take the dog for a run.  think about how relaxed that is.  same amount of work, but more fun.

anyway, Dottie wasn’t sure how to handle the running together.  she wanted to pull and investigate everything.  but I was busy running.  she is getting used to it now.  today, she only pulled away a little bit.  she kept up with me most of the time and usually stayed on the left.

Maybe I can start going more than a mile soon.

I started my pushup workout.  There I am with my feet on the chair, the perfect pushups in my hands, I get to number 13, and here comes the dog. 

She’s right in my face.  these pushups are hard enough without bobbing your head.  So at 19, I let her have it. 

bitch didn’t care one bit.  she tried to kiss me.  GET OUT OF HERE!!!

The pain in the neck is subsiding

A very special lady told me to put heat on the muscle pain. 

Duh!  You would think I would remember that.  How many times have I posted that in the injury forum.  Doh!

So for the past two nights, I’ve been doing the heat pad on and off. 

This morning I tried overhead presses with 10 lb DBs.  Oooouuuuuuccccccchhhhhh!  not a good idea.  So, of course I just did it again a few minutes ago.  All better now.  The pain is still there, but not as much and I have much more range of motion on my neck.

So, the injury recovery is almost complete.  Maybe I can get back in the gym tomorrow.

A pain in the neck

The whole reason I started to worked out was physical therapy to recover from a bone spur C4-C5.  Well, there you go.  I slept wrong on Saturday night and the pain came back.  Now I am awak two nights later with a heat pad under my neck.  it’s 3 am and people reading my posts on various websites are going to think I am crazy - check that, they will have verification I am crazy.  I expect to be wearing a straight white vest by the end of the week.

HAHAHAHA They’re coming to take me away  haha hehe hoho whowho.  (ok youngsters, it’s an old song)

I am 5′9″ now

…or at least I believe I always was.  I think the trainer who measured my height when I put it on bb.com was wrong.  My dad is 5′8"  and I easily have him beat.  That’s my story and I am sticking to it.

Anyway, today the gym, I got back to 245 for 5 reps on the squat rack.  I needed a spotter and there was actually no one in the gym that looked like they could handle it.  so I grabbed a somewhat big kid.  good arms but no legs.  He said he can’t squat because he can’t figure out how to get the bar on his back.  see, that is not an excuse.   learn it at low weights and do it once per week.

it was a great workout.  even a little bit of heart rate time.  5 min.  I left it all on the floor.  I’ll run tomorrow morning with the dog.  maybe get to the gym again on tuesday.
