We had the results of the PET Scan today. My wife’s tumors are growing and spreading.
The doc broke the news that approved chemotherapies are no longer an option. they are of no value. he is not a research oncologist, but he knows many. he contacted a friend in colo-rectal and gastro oncology to ask if he is participating in any studies for expiremental therapies. nope. but he did give up a name of another doc who might be. my wife’s doc is going to follow the trail as far as it goes.
she is a candidate for being a lab rat becasue she is at the epitomy of health. everything works great, but she has a lot of tumors that no longer respond to chemotherapies approved for human use.
gong in for the expiremental stuff could speed things up or slow things down, or just make things incomfortable. who knows. the point is there is no approved cures for her condition. she has looked into the alternative stuff, most cross themselves off the list of possibilities by virtue of what they do versus what she has. a few try to keep themselves in the game, but a little research and you can see why no one has ever heard of it.
anyway, what get’s me is my reaction. i don’t feel anything. a co-worker shared that when his wife was diagnosed, it was like he had the funeral that day and had to wait for the actual event. maybe that’s it. I know I am not in denial. I seem to be the only person in the room who understood what the doc was saying. he’s done all he can do. if he can’t find an expirement for her to donate her body to, then she just needs to go home and wait.
so, am i normal? is it ok to be so jaded? is there something wrong with me? i sure hope not.

today i made it to 17 minutes, that’s 170 pushups in 17 minutes. I actually collapsed on number 170, maybe I shouldn’t count that rep, so it’s 169.
anyway, my arms are like jell-o as I type this. the dog wants me to throw her favorite rope, not going to happen. not a bad workout.

I took the kids to the haunted forest at the county park. yup the county park. not one of those place where they advertise that you will be scared until you need new underwear, the county park.
so we wait all day until dusk - so it’s dark - then we get in the car and we pick up one of my son’s friends, and off we go. at the park, we have to wait in line for few minutes, so we bought the candy bars (which were surprisinly low priced) and waited.
when it was time to go, they told us we had to hold onto a rope and no letting go. as we are going along, the guide is telling us "ooh, I heard there was a werewolf around here" and then there wasn’t one. it was like the people who were supposed to be there to scare us weren’t there. it was funny.
one of my sons kept saying "boring" whenever something did happen. and my other son’s friend kept taking the end of the rope and going forward so we weren’t in single file. all in all, not scary but a good time was had.
at the parking lot, i put the kids in the car, and then a couple of women my age approached me. )I like the sound of that) they asked if it was scary, I said no, it was kid friendly. but I did invite them to my house because I have a chain saw. they laughed.
on the way home, the boys were seeing who could scream loudest. I announced a contest to see who could scream most like a girl. thankfully, my son’s friend son that (instead of my son - not that screaming like a girl is a bad thing - lol)
that was my trip

squat 10 each leg/kick back 10 each leg/ squat 10 each leg/ kick back 10 each leg - no resting
squats 135 1×5, 225 with quarter reps 3×5
seated calf press 2 plates 1×10, 2 plates plus 35 2×10
that was yesterday, today my butt quads and hammies are all burning

since vacation, I have had more complications from family and work then ever in my life. this has been a real pain.
I am getting it done at home though. lot’s of pushups and situps.
work, we’ll let’s see. GM is making retirement offers to eveyone with a pulse, and everyone wants a financial plan to see if those numbers work. the stock market is haywire - nothing makes sense. and you should see the bond prices. the junk bonds are paying 5% and the investment grade are paying 8-20%. it’s an easy choice, but then I have to check every account to see who needs the bonds. so i work 24/7
my accountant just e-mailed me to get some sleep. what?!? sleep?!? what’s that? pass teh espresso and get out of the way…
tried to go to the gym today, but client appointment got in the way. can’t go tomorrow meeting until late. I am not sure where I am supposed to be on Thursday. Maybe Friday. Poswsibly Saturday. Definitely not Sunday. to big events that day. oh crap! I have to present 3 scholarships. I hope I still have the certificate paper to print the awards. I hope the club treasurer wrote the checks. I hope the club president remembered he is not the committee chair and therefore he (and his ego) is not presenting the awards, I am.
I think I need another shot of espresso, my thoughts are all scrambled… brb

you ever have one of those great timing events at the gym? I was going through my work, and drinking my water. I noticed I was getting low on water, so before my next set, I loosened the cap on my thermos so I could run between sets to the fountain to get a refill.
Since I was doing my sets on strict timing for endurance, I needed to get it filled and get back to hit the next set. Just 10 feet away from the fountain, another guy came into view 2 steps ahead of me and and refilled his. so I had to use the low fountain and could only fill up half way. what are the chances that would happen?
So, my workout was with speed and endurance.
Arc trainer 5 min, at 45 fro 87 calories
laying DB flies with 25’s 4 X 10 with palms twisted upward at the top
DB front raises with 15’s 4×10
DB Presses with 50’s 10, 10, 6
DB Raises with 40’s 4×10
(all of the DB sets above had exactly 25 second rest periods except for the 3rd set of front raises which was 30 seconds due to the aforementioned unlikely bad timing, which was not my fault)
Arc Trainer 5 min, at 45 for 89 calories
1 handed DB rows at 60 2 sets of 10 each side no stopping
inclined DB rows with 60’s 2×10 25 second rest between sets
protein bar and fruit and nut bar
then I cam home and mowed the tall weeds with my walk behond mower. 2 hours of cardio and a lot of heavy pushing to get the mower to move in the tall weeds. (can’t use the auto drive in the weeds because they wrap around the axle and jam it up)
salmon and 2 peices of red meet with espresso
I doubt the weight spike to 180 will hold after the day I’ve had.
