New highs

When I was working out on Sunday, I did a few extra reps.

So I thought I would use the calculator to find my new one rep max.

Squats came to 323

Deads came to 341

 wow

I may hit soem awesome goals this year.

5:30 am redeux

ok, so I ‘ve been up since 5:30 am (5:36 - see previous blog entry re: idiot and furnace), now it is 4:30pm, and I am whipped.  Only 5 more hours to bed time.

I could crash right now.

 you know, they gave me a new office, with lot’s of real estate.  there is nothing in the other half of the room, I could just shut off the lights and doze a few….

5:30 am

OK, so now the schedule is switched.  The wife has cancer and is on disability.  Today was my first day to get up and go to work by 8 am instead of putting the kids on the bus.

I had to wake up at 5:30 am to accomplish taking out the dog, light workout (doesn’t count for blogging), shower, make my lunch (major undertaking), answer my e-mails, etc.

I don’t care what anyone says, the human body was not meant to functiion at 5:30 am!

Plus, some idiot who thinks he knows best came home last week and decided that it’s now warm in Michigan and we can turn off the furnace.  That same idiot is the one who was first awake this morning (at 5:30) and had to spend 6 mins daring hisself to get out from under the blankets to go turn it back on.  I hope the idiot enjoyed taking a shower in a frozen bathroom- even the hot water could warm that up.  (it is now almost 10 am and I am still shivering)

The good news is that the wife called, she had to put the girls on the bus - I had to put the boys on the bus, reversed rolls remember - she wants to trade back.  HELL NO!  Give me the boys anytime.  They might be stupid teenage boys who don’t know how to comb their hair and can’t remember to brush their teeth, but you just tell them and it’s done.  for the girls, I have one word - ORDEAL!

It’s all yours honey, you squeezed out those puppies, I just shot the load.  Enjoy!

Sunday workout

Short workout due to the landscape blocks

Squats 1×5 @ 135, 1×4 @ 285, 1×5 @285.  when I get to these high weight levels in the plan, I push for the exra reps - it let’s me know I am accomplishing progress.

DB Bench with 65’s 1×9, 1×7

Dead Lifts - I decided to push ahead to the next weight - 295

1×5 @ 135, 1×4 @ 295, 1×6 @ 295

Pull ups (by this time I was spent, the deads left me dizzy) 1×5, 1×2

Then I went home, ate some food and got to work on the 80 lb landscape blocks.  the wall is almost finished.  I just need some more stone for behind the wall, and when it gets warmer, I can get some dirt from the bottom of the swamp and backfill everything and finalize the edge of the pond.

Long and short of it, the great 80 lb block workout is almost done.  The forearms are greatful for the chance to grow ( I know this because they are screaming very loudly - or is that screaming in pain)

 

Bittersweet Farm now has a machine they can use one time only to raise capital and expand operations.  Last year was 3300 lbs of food donated to the food bank, hopefully we can raise enough money to make next year a 4000 lb year - that’s 2 tons of food.

Got in a workout on Wednesday

It was short due to time available, but got in a few places I’ve been wanting to get to.

Treadmill health test.  set it for 4.5 miles per hour my score was 37 (this is good, not great- i think the stretching beforehand modifies my score)

Leg Press 1×5 @225, 3×5 @ 405

Pull-ups - unassisted 1×7, 1×4  getting there, it’s almost a workout

bent over rows - let’s see, the 60’s there’s one missing, someone was using the 65’s, so I stepped up to 70’s.  3×5 - the right arm cannont handle this yet, but I eeked it out.

Tricep dip machine 2×10 at 180 - i needed someone to lift off the other end, with all my weight on it, I couldn’t budge it.  once it was lifted, I could geet in the seat and brace myself, though I never actually seated- I was always a couple inches up

So, I am sitting here in bed at 7am trying to decide if I should get up and go do some sprints.

What should I do?

I could rest a little and then get about my day.  Or I could get up and get to work.  Hmmm….!?!

Super pain

It took just over 24 hours to get here.  The pain is just above the elbow, on the outside of the bicep.  A shooting pain.  Clearly the block work got me!

Over night it got worse.  I could barely sleep.  Up every hour trying to adjust position so I wasn’t aggravating it.  It is up in the forearms too.  It hurts a little to type, and by mid-afternoon, I should be really feeling it.

Unfortunately, I cannot rest my arms.  I am a pencil pusher, forearms are part of my work.  I’ll have to suffer and not do any workouts related to the arms until at least Thursday.

Due to the lack of sleep, I did not wake in time to go run sprints and I did not make it to work by 8am.  Thursday is the target to start that crap. (Wed I’ll be out on a mission)

DOMS from block work

Yup, it is an all over body workout.  Highly recommended.  After all of these years pushing a pencil, I really feels good to get back into construction.  don’t forget to wear some sort of gloves when working with bricks or blocks, they really tear up your skin.

So I was on the phone, and noticed that my bicep was in pain from holding the phone up to my ear.  Infact, as I type this, I can feel the pain building.  Mid back, calves, groin, quads, hammies, biceps, triceps, upper back everything hurts except abs - they seem to never feel pain.

Planning on waking tomorrow to do sprints and try to make it to the office by 8 am (first time in 3 years), it’s a 45 min drive, so it will be tough to do.  I’ve never done this drive during rush hour - i’ll get some blood pressure pills for the ride - I hate all other drivers.  If it was up to me there would only be one driver’s license - MINE!

 

Anyway, more on this as we go…

When to start a new diet?

So I told you about my friend who flew my wife to WI for an appointment with a nutrition specialist.

well, now Suzy has sent a package of supplements and vitamins.  It arrived on Friday.

Here’s the thing.  All last week, the old lady says she will start her new diet in a few days.  She even made a few small changes along the way.  But all weekend long (mind you, she got the package on Friday) she has been saying she will start her new diet on Tuesday (tomorrow)

WTF  it’s not like you are overweight, you have cancer.  no time like now to start the new diet and supplements that you think will work in curing you.

As we say in men world - shit or get off the pot!

OK, I had to get that off my chest - which, btw, is looking real good!
