Now I owe myself.
Yesterday, I worked off my accounting bill. The original deal was we would buy dinner at a nice restaurant for us and him and his girlfriend, in exchange for taxes. However, a few years ago, he ran into steady girlfriend troubles. So we have been getting by for free. Well, he moved into a new house, and needs the basement finished. So I offered, instead, you buy the lumber, and I’ll design it and frame it.
Well, yesterday, I grabbed the 13 year old lumber carrier, and headed over to work. since the old man’s nail guns are all old as him and don’t work, I had to work old fashioned style (hammer by hand). Nice work out though. We ate pizza (Little Sleazers) all day long. Not good food, but I was sorking at the time. So I figured OK
Today, is the Epiphany (the day the 3 Kings arrived in Bethelehem) which for Italians is the day the kids get their second set of gifts, because Befana, the witch, does the exact same thing as Santa, but 12 days later. (That’s why there are 12 days of Christmas). So we had our club party, the old witch showed up and gave candy and toys to the kids, and we ate pizza. No work this time, except that I had the job of removing and stacking the chairs when the kids played musical chairs. Yes I broke a sweat, but not enough to overcome the pizza, angel wings, brownies, cakes, cookies and chocolate candes. Now I owe myself.
I did do the perfect pushup workout today though. I am a level 20 guy. That means, 3 sets of 14, 10 and 6 of each pushup - normal, wide and close. The numbers seem small, but these are harder pushups and the norm is for people to only be able to do 2/3 of the number they can do without the units. I did hit a true max on a couple of the sets and actually fell on my face. Pretty cool to see the floor caoming at me that fast, and I didn’t even have a drink. Hmmm….. drunk pushups… I’ll have to think about that….

My mom gave me some shirts and ties for Christmas…. wrong color, wrong size (she doesn’t get that my neck is much larger than it used to be). So I took them back to Kohl’s and wandered around for a long time.
Has anyone noticed that for such a successful store, they truly have nothing of interest? I wandered around for a long time, thinking "What do I Want?"
So anyway, I got 1 shirt, the right size and color, a nose hair trimmer (hey, Italian and getting old - it’s a great investment), and that pushup thingy.
It’s the one, where there are 2 units, composed of handles on rotating bases. You set them on the floor and pushup spacing, and then grab the handles and go at it. Becuase the handles are off the ground, you get those deep pushups, and the rotating base allows you to incorporate more muscles. I did some this morning, started on the low with normal grip, and pushed up and rotated to a hammer position.
Herman Moore is to blame. I had a chance to meet him, we spent about an hour talking, and I asked what he does for a work out now. He said, late one night he saw this thing on TV, and bought it. It comes with a DVD. You are supposed to do 30 pushups at normal width, 14 at wide, and 8 at narrow position (or something close to it- I haven’t watched the DVD yet). Anyway, you are supposed to do it in 2 min. now this is an allpro wide receiver talking here… He did the 30, and took a little break, then started the next set, and realized that unless he gets in gear, he won’t get it done in 2 min. Well, those last ones are the toughest - the thingy kicked his ass.
So on Herman Moore’s advice, I saw it on sale, and bought it.
This morning, I just did 30 pushups in 2 sets. It was ok. Then about a half hour later while driving. Oooooouccch! My right peck started acting up, then my body got some shakes like after an intense workout. This thing works. Plus, my trouble with getting a right side work out - this seems to overcome it - so I am led to believe that the twisting motion provides an individual workout to each side - cool. Can’t wait to do it again!

I figured it was about time to start checking progress again. the simplest way is to get in front of the mirror and flex.
So I stood facing the mirror and put my fists at ear level, and flexed. Arms are looking good, but under the arms, the lats are sharp. Cool.
I probably work my back more than any other muscle group, so it shouldn’t be a surprise, but after so long of not getting any results, it is. also, I added the assited pullups a few weeks ago. I am getting the impression, that the assits machine allows more volumen (reps), which helps to work them harder.
so anyway, cool, my lats are growing. Next, I’ll take some measurements.

This time was worse. A full 10 inches of the white stuff.
First things first. Put the dog in the garage, clear out the walk to the garage side door (broom the door, the threshhold, and the jam), shovel the walk, then shovel a path into the yard about 20 feet. go get the dog and take her for her 6:30 am 20 foot walk.
Now let’s take a look at what we have. 100 feet long, 16 feet wide, ten inches deep, don’t know where the sides are, and I have to find 2 cars underneath it all. So I shovelled a path to the first car, and used the stuff to make a pile 6 feet tall (this will eventually be an igloo). Then another path out to the tree stump so I can tie out the dog while working.
go inside for the protein.
I have been out 3 times already, and still have 30 feet to go. This stuff wipes you out!
