Day off from training

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

TDetroit

We had planned to go to an event in Lansing to celebrate Columbus Day, but we had the day wrong, it was last Thursday.  Since we both had the day off, we decided to keep it that way.

At 1pm, we decided to have lunch in Oxford at Casa Real.  We had never been there before, but it is a good Mexican place.  Excellant food.  website: casarealoxford.com  .  (Jeff if you are reading this, it is worth the trip from Independence)

Since it was a day off, I decided on the Mega Changa.  A chicken chimichanga with rice on the side.  I looaded up on chips and dip etc.  Then we split a Banana Chimichanga for dessert.  They wrap 2 bananas in tortillas and deep fry them (lightly, you could barely tell), then they top with 3 scoops of ice cream, and cinnamon, whipped cream and fudge.  This was real good.

So the end result of my day off is that now I weigh 175, and I don’t think that is a bunch of new muscle…

Hot Wings, too hot!!

Sunday, October 7th, 2007

TDetroit

OK, the hot wings went over real good, except for one thing.  The sample I had at home was no indicator of the hotness.  these turned out to be "that" type of wings.  You know the kind.  The ones where there is only one way to eat them.  Once you start, do not quit.  Keep going until they are all gone, because once you quit, it will start to sink in… then you are screwed.

These ones, were hot inside, but also, what touched your lips was particularly deadly for the next half hour.  Just a burn like frost bite, that’s all.  All fiery and tingly and you know it’s not supposed to be like that ever.  Oops, you ate hot wings.

Then the sissies wouldn’t finish it. So at midnight, I went and got all the left over and ate them.  It was a lot of hot wings.  My stomach has been paying for it all day.  I’ve never been this afraid of my own farts before.  Not just because of the burn, but because you never know…

My gut has been on fire.  Even now 20 hours later.  I should be over it soon.

Spicy food

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

TDetroit

We are going to Lansing for a college reunion.  Just a bunch of us who have stayed togeether over the years.

Everyone is bringing a passing dish.  My wife decided to bring hot wings.  She asked me to try them.  So I did.  Very good.  10 min later, she tried one.  She came into the den and said they are very hot.  Concerned look on her face, worried no one will be able to eat them.

I didn’t think they were that hot.  They were good for me.  I love spicy food.  I don’t like the bathroom the next day, but I like the food.  She also grilled my jalepeno peppers.  I love those too.  Grab the stem, bite em off.  I bet no one else eats those.

Why do people like ranch dressing?  I know it cools off the spice, but if that’s the case, why eat spicy food.  Why not just eat the regular food and leave the good stuff for me, and this bottomless pit I call a stomach.

A friend passed away

Friday, October 5th, 2007

TDetroit

You are never prepared for that stuff.  I received an e-mail from my friend John.  I told him, whenever he sends me an e-mail, put something relevant in the subject line because I cannot access my personal e-mail from work.  So the message was call John urgently.  Unfortunately, due to spam, my yahoo preview pushed that one off the list.  So today is the first time I checked my mail in 2 days.  I called hime, and he said Gini had passed away.

Totally unexpected.  We just had a club meeting 2 weeks ago.  She just had her first granddaughter, and she was showing a picture of 4 generations of womenm from her mom down to the grand.  John also told me that Gini’s mom had passed away, and the funeral was the day before Gini passed away.

So I like to ask a favor.  During your next workout, please do 1 extra heavy rep for Gini.  A great lady, loved by many.

It’s banana time

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

TDetroit

I don’t know about everyone else who logs on at work, but I am going bananas.  It’s probably just the quadruple espresso from Carribou (they asked if I wanted the extra shot, so I said yes, now I need a spatula to get myself off the ceiling).

Anyway, I want to be in the gym.  I want to push to higher numbers.  I want to reach new heights.  I want to leg press until I see double.  I want to grab the T-bar row and hook up all the other machines to it, and then row that.

OK, skinny guys can dream too.

I was thinking about the purpose of human existance the other day.  It comes down to 2 things.

1.  Have sex.  Speaking metaphysically, and ignoring morals, ethics, and self actualism, we really have a purpose to procreate.  I for one have done that alreaady.  Not ready to close my half of the baby factory, but there a bunch of little versions of me running around turning people’s hair grey.

2.  Lift weight.  Knowing what I now know about hormones.  The more we lift, the more hormones we produce.  Ergo, as hormone factories, our purpose is to produce hormones, and we are more productive when exert physical stress.  Witness the opposable thumb.  Do bears lift heavy weights?  No, they push, but do not lift.  Do rhinos lift havy weights?  NO, the push but do not lift.

Do humans lift heavy weights?  Mostly no, most are too lazy, but in fact we can lift heavy weights with training.  what allows to lift heavy, the opposable thumb, and our size.  (the other animal with an opposable thumb is too small to lift heavy - raccoon)  So, we have the tools (opposable thumb), we are made for it, and thanks to the internet and and sitting behind the desk typing blogs, we now have  a community of people here at bodyspace who need to get to the gym….

WHAT ARE YOU DOING READING BLOGS??   THOSE WEIGHTS AREN’T GOING TO LIFT THEMSELVES!  GET TO THE GYM, AND GET TO WORK!

Great night at the gym

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

TDetroit

I went real heavy on evrything.  Even did extra reps when I could.

I usually do 3 x 5 at 135 for bench press, last night I moved up to 140 3 x 5, I think next time I will go to 3 x 6 with as amany as I can on the 3rd set.

I put 120 on the tricep machine, I had to jump to push it down and get started.

120 on the lat pul down.  Pretty soon i’m going to need someone to help me bring it down, and then hold me down so I can work out.

That screwy scale -rant.

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

TDetroit

Our scale at home is the pretty normal one.  Bathroom floor, step on it, get the wrong reading, $19.95 at the local grocery store.

Anyway, yesterday I was 170, today I am 175.  If I recall, that’s like 15,000 calories.  It sounds delicious, think of the pie you would have to eat to gain 5 lbs in one day, but I don’t recall eating it.  Infact, yesterday was a pretty clean diet of 2300 calories 40/40/20 (almost).  So it must be the screwy scale.

I fiddles with it a little and lost 1 lb in the effort, but I still think it is wrong, and I logged in only 173 on mu bodyspace.

At the gym tonight, I will use the proffessional electronic one.  Because I will be weighing at night, I will have to make a mental adjustment for all the food I eat today.  It wouldn’t be fair to compare months and months of first thing in the morning weigh ins with a before bed weigh in.

Anyway, results hopefully tomorrow.

Today is gym day

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

TDetroit

I hope to get there early enough to get home early.

With the new pic of my back, I am excited to get in and make more progress.  I especially want to hit the T-bar row, and the lat pull-down.  Going for big numbers, lift to fail.

Also, want to get the forearms some big time work, and put more reps on the right side.  Bandit says 2 sets on the right for each 1 set on the left.  Sounds good, I’ll give it a try.

Excited to hit the calves again too, after the incident this weekend with the trampleen.  The pain is almost gaone, and I’ve been self-rehabbing it since.  Feels good and strong, but it needs the big push to get the final healing.

CHILF game - vote on a new rule

Monday, October 1st, 2007

TDetroit

Went to the Genesis concert at the Palace of Auburn HIlls last night.

Great concert BTW.  Those guys rock waaaaay more than I expected.  Second loudest band I have ever seen. (Night Ranger was the loudest - couldn’t hear for 3 days)  I’ve seen a few whom you would have expected to be extremely loud - Metallica - but Genesis was louder.

Anyway, I went in at 20 on the count.  Turns out the Genesis fans don’t qualify.  Added none at the concert.  But……  welll we will get to that in a minute.

At the gas station was 1 cutie, and then I passed a postal carrier on Woodward.  Only a 7 out of 10 if she was walking down the street, but in her Blue shirt and driving that Red, White and Blue box truck… well, there was something sexy about that whole thing.  Plus 2 more here in B-Ham, that makes 24.

Now back to the …. incident….

Did you see the movie Major League?  There was a woman in the stands at the Cleveland stadium.  A rather large woman.  She was also in Naked Gun 2.5, I believe she fell over the railing in that movie.  Well, she was at the concert, at her normal place, front row second deck.  Precipitously dancing and threating to go over the railing again.

Unfortunately for me she was in my periferal vision.  And she was quite distratcting.  She was shakin’ what she…. got.  The guys right behind her were bvery annoyed.  Now I am not normally one to comment negatively on overweight people.  People are overweight for many reasons.  However, I do expect people to have a level of consciousness, and at the risk of sounding like Marty Morninweg (spelling), I have to say, "the bar is high!"

Clearly she must know of her condition.  Clearly she must understand that clothing does not help improve the attractiveness.   The only thing that can help is to live the bodybuilder lifestyle for a time, in an effort to bring things back into line with what is viewed by most of the world to be healthy.  In any event, assuming she understands all of this, she should not be in the front row, second deck, shakin’ what she…. got!

I found it annoying and exhausting.  So here is what we are voting on.

Can we deduct CHILFs for accidently viewing such a woman?  Note the conditions here would have to be strict, this is Michigan afterall.  It would not be enough to see an overweight person, that would only lead to me committing time to the couch and Bon Bons.   It would have to be an overweight woman doing something unbecoming of an overweight woman.  In the event I should run across one of these, should I deduct 1 CHILF from the count?
