Genesis Tickets

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

TDetroit

I am going to the Genesis concert.  Get to sit in the corporate box.  Whoo hoo!

That doesn’t happen often.

I wrapped up my foot, and I am ready to go.

skipped the work out today.

Oh, and my game.

Well, I expect it will be a daunting task for the next few weeks.  As it stands, I am currently at 18, and going to a concert.  Lot’s of hard work ahead of me.

Proof you cannot be a child forever!

TDetroit

I was outside Friday night, smoking a cigar.  I saw my kids mini trampleen on the driveway.  You know the one, 30 inches in diameter, 12 inches of the ground.

Anyway, I hopped up on it, bounced 3 times.  The second bounce, my shoe caught under the leather edge, and twisted my foot.  Then I landed square on my ankle for the third bounce.  Bounced off onto the drive with a sprained ankle.

I walked it off, but it was definitely twisted.

Best part, Saturday was a trip to the zoo.  A company outing, I had clients coming to the zoo, and I was expected to be there.  Eight hours walking around on a wrapped up ankle.  By the time I got home, the pain was shooting up my leg.  My right hammy was sore.

It was good to get my foot up on a pillow.  I’ll be good today.

More on wheat prices.

Here’s theory for you.

If you create competition between humans and cars over who get’s to use the agricultural products as fuel, you cn expect the prices to go up.

Wheat Prices are up, and none of the pundits know why!

Friday, September 28th, 2007

TDetroit

I get a real entertainment thrill when I watch the news struggle with simple concepts.  Simple economic concepts.  Then they interview the worlds dumbest economists who just don’t know the answer.

Earlier today, I saw on the news an economist who thought wheat prices are rising because the third world nations are becoming more wealthy and the people are more able to buy food.  Where to start with this one?  Well, if they are wealthier, why do they not have the money to pay back thier loans?  I mean if you have money, pay your bills.

If they have more money, why do we have so many people in this country complianing about poverty in those other countries?

It is true, however, that they do have a little more money, and it does contribute a little to the wheat prices, but not much.

Now I am watching a news program where the economist thinks the price of wheat is up 100% in the past 12 months because of a drought in Australia, and rains in Europe.  Let’s start with the fact that prices started rising last year.  The drought and rains didn’t start until this year.  So, FAIL!  In the US and Canada, where most of the world’s wheat is grown, prices are still high and there is no problem growing the wheat.

Yes, the drought and rains are contributing to the price rises this year, but that is not the reason for the increased wheat prices.

So what is the real reason?

Ready?

Ethanol.  Yup, that stuff that is finding it’s way into our cars’ fuel tanks.  The farmers have switched to corn.  Last year, they planted normal.  Then the PResident made his State of the Union speech, remember when he talked about pushing ethanol.  Corn prices spiked because everyone new it would drain the corn out of the economy.  The farmers responded by planting corn in their second planting and even more this year.  Look for corn to fall in the middle of next year.

In the mean time, there is less wheat in the American and Canadian fields, as the farmers are trying to capture the high prices of corn.  Look for soy  to also be high, as well as many other crops.

It is very simple.

Problem, no one wants to give credit to the President for trying to reduce America’s dependence on oil.  Supposedly he is a racist, anti-environement, bigoted idiot.  To give him credit for anything good, destroys that list, so therefore, they have to find economists who are willing to embarrass themselves by avoiding the truth and the simple supply and demand economics.

There you go, another case of politics in your evening news.

What an improvement!

Friday, September 28th, 2007

TDetroit

I just uploaded the progress pics of my back.  Definitely an improvement.  More muscle, and a better flex.  Looks good.

I guess I knew it would be that way, because I am lifting a lot more than I was a few months ago.  But it looks real good.  Maybe I should go shirtless from now on.  Well maybe I’ll wait a few more months before I do that.

Starting to get my nutrition back to norm

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

TDetroit

After vacation, I was all out of wack.  It seemed I was unable to get the macros to work out.  I hit them dead on a couple of times, but the kids going to school and my work schedule have been conspiring against me.

So anyway, I have been getting it better the past week, and I feel almost back on track, with only one prob.  The Potassium issue.  All the reading says you can get ample enough Potassium from eating meat (theoretically the animals need it too), but I haven’t been able to get levels up doing it that way.  I’ve been getting the Potassium from my carbs (bananas), which has been getting me high on carbs.

That’s the only problem with the diet.  If I can figure it out, I will be set.  The thought does come to mind of taking Potassium in pill form, but the amount I am off, would require 2.5x the manufacturers recommended daily take.  It doesn’t sound smart to take that much, even though the total Potassium would only be in the middle of the RDA range.

Left versus right

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

TDetroit

I flexed my left forearm today.  I was surprised at the progress, a huge muscle (for my standards) bulged out along my forearm.  Cool, I thought.  So curiosity got me, and I flexed my right arm.  Nothing!  As a matter of fact, it was as if I could not even feel the muscles flexing.

I have always had a lot less coordination on my right, but even then, you would think that I would be able to flex my muscles and see … something.  I doesn’t move at all, not even a twitch.

Yes, my right forearm is much weaker than my left.  I do all of my curls at the level my right can handle.  It must be funny to watch.  Here I am struggling to pull 5 reps at 30 lbs on the preacher with my right, then I switch to the left and 1,2,3,4,5 done!  Just like that.

I’ve been working my arms like this for a long time, and no progress on the right, just the left.

When I do pushups, I focus on flexing the right side to push, and let the left just do it’s thing.  You would think that would help too, but I am not seeing it.

Everyone says to just keep working them evenly, and the right will catch up, but no one ever says how long it will take.

 Anyone?

Anyone?

Hellooooo!  Anyone out there?

News on depression

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

TDetroit

I found another cause.  The oils we eat.  Turns out that too much omega-6 and not enough omega-3 can lead to depression.  Corn and soy oil are high in omega-6 and low in omega-3.  So the American diet, being high in corn and soy oils, can lead to depression amoung the people eating it - Americans.  (and you wonder why our politics are so messed up)

I found this information posted in the forums:

http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=4768333

The is a linkk to a graphic, showing the different types of oils and their breakdowns.

So add oil to the mixing pot and the picture is becoming clearer.  Wal-mart supplies us with cheap food, but it is all the wrong food.  It is the wrong food, because it is based on what is readily available.  What is readily available is based on what the farmers can grow with little geological engineering.  ie, growing olives in the States would require changing the terrain, but corn can grow easily in the current terrain.

Causes of depression

Low T or E

Stress

Low Potassium

Wrong Oils

The list get’s longer…

Potassium Update

Monday, September 24th, 2007

TDetroit

I have been rethinking the potassium issue.  It seems, that since I engage in all sorts of potassium depleting activities, I should increase my target goal.  So I did, from 3500 mgs to 4000 mgs.  Let’s see in a few weeks how I start to feel.  I woke up this morning sore all over, and we were out of bananas, so I went to the grocery store near work and bought 2 bunches for the office.

Potassium depleting activites.  Coffee, sugar, (most people combine those 2).  I would like to return to drinking an espresso everyday, I figure that’s 1 banana right there.

Physical stress.  Well, if you are lifting heavy, that counts as a banana or 2.

Had a beer this weekend.  Yup, you guessed it, alcohol depletes potassium, that’s 1 banana per beer.

I drove on Sunday.  I hate ALL other drivers.  Clearly they are not going anywhere important, look at the way they drive.  Mental stress, yes, potassium depleter.  1 banana per traffic light.  1 banana per Honda driver (they are the worst most discourteous drivers on the road.  Honda vehicles should be made illegal just because of the drivers)

So I am going for 4000 mgs per day, and may have to increase in a few weeks if I am not getting the full effect.

My son got screwed

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

TDetroit

It is bad enough that the textbooks are filled with lies and deciet, but to tank a childs education out of laziness is downright mean.

My son is an exceptional math student.  Last year near the end of 5th grade I asked if he could take the test to advance to 7th grade math when he goes to middle school (this year).  They told me they no longer do the test, becasue there is a new math program and it is unnecessary to advance.  OK

So we get to this year, 2 of his friends are in 7th grade math - they took the test.  You remember the test don’t you, the one I was told they no longer offer because it is unnecessary.  Plus these 2 friends got loweer grades in math than my son.  Even my son is pissed, and I don’t blame him.

Also, my youngest one is best friends with a girl whose mom is a math tutor.  She confirmed that our elementary is behind the other district elementaries in math.  The others finish 5th grade more advanced in math than our school does.  So it would be unlikely that my son could have passed the exam anyway.  Which brings up the question, how did the other 2 boys pass it.  Remember them, the ones who didn’t have the grades in math that my son did.

Well, we figure they must have obtained a 6th or 7th grade math book, studied it and took the exam.  Funny, I’ve been asking for years to get higher grade math books, but the schools refuse to give me one.  I think it is time for new tactics.

I am a 2nd amendment republican… time to get the things I deserve.  I will no longer ask for what I want, I will from now on tell them what they are going to do for me.  They will give me what I want, when I want it, in the manner I want it, and they will do it with a smile.  Why?  Because my gun is right out in the car and I can go get it if they want.

No offense to my friend Shanky, but the teaching establishment has got a lot to learn about fairness and work.
