Legs. legs. Summer 2008
Hey, like many of us in the cold weather climate, I am looking forward to the spring and summer weather!! I am working on my legs and would really like to see more definition. I think I need to step up my cardio a bit. Maybe to three days a week from the two I am currently doing. Don’t want to lose too much muscle. I am thinking about doing legs twice a week. Any thoughts on this? I appreciate your feedback!

Whats the rest of your program look like…..you did say DEFINITION….in da legs so adding in more cardio would be good. As long as you have nutrition well in hand you shouldn’t really lose muscle…..
as for trainin ‘em twice a week, you’d have to gimme an idea of ur current split first…..or maybe it’s already on here somewhere i’ll go look

thats fine hitting legs twice a week. but you dont have to do leg destroyers. mix it up work on quads one day. and calves and hamstrings the other. or just do a lil of all if it both days. dont want to over train. you get alof out of running. or do like leg press one day squats the other stuff like that

I’m currently doing a 5 day split with legs once a week and lite cardio twice a week. Nutrition is tight so it keeps me fairly lean. But think I need to step up the leg work and maybe cardio intensity a bit. I figure that the higher cardio will help me drop the bf a few more points before summer and that the extra legs day will help me keep muscle on. What do you think?

lol still a little vague…..i’m assuming 5 day split like ur doin a split like mine where i have chest, legs, arms, shoulders, back…..but i may be making a fool of myself and you mean something else where you do cardio only on 2 of those days lol…….my split is pretty advanced I know……..but if you really think you’re legs are lagging and wanna up it (this is assuming the assumption i made earlier) i would do something where you got three days of rest for legs between and then another session…..and for a week i’d two different types of workouts for them one "heavy" and then one "light" heavy would be pretty heavy weights ya know to build some size….note i said SOME lol….i dunno how big you wanna be…..and then the other day do ALOT of reps because that’s what’ll bring out your definition

You assumed correctly on the 5 day split the first time. I was not referring to cardio…only lifting. I’m giving the three days rest between legs a try…2x /week …one heavy one lite. Don’t want size. I’m a slim girl so don’t want size..more of a long, lean look. Book need more definition…cuts.

yea see how that works for ya……u don’t wanna be any bigger at all? i don’t mean stupid size lol…..just a lil…..anyway…..yea i put this on ur comment thingy but my split is kinda a 5 day that i have as a 6 day so there’s a constant rotation of what bodypart is trained twice a week….could be set up for laggards……but you know if ALL you really want is a lil more definition focus alot on diet and cardio to bring ur bodyfat down and you’ll start seein the cuts.

I work legs twice aweek, Mon (really heavy and high volume) and then again on Thurs(Light weight circuit training with plyometrics). I have had great results, legs are more defined but tighter and smaller in diameter. Is this what you’re looking for??

Definitely, Xercisegrl. Thanks so much for your post. This seems to be the most popular advice I’m getting from most people on here. Makes perfect sense to me and I’m definitely going to give it a try. I have already done heavy legs earlier this week and have recovered well after being sore. So i will do a different legs workout tomorrow, going a bit lighter as you suggested and varying the exercises. I’ll let you all know how this works for me!
Much love,

Try a different leg day, instead of weights do plyo and sprints, takes care of cardio plus you hit the fast twitch fibres which are more responsive and will give you that more defined look as opposed to the slow twitcch fibres used in long pounding cardio sessions. Look at a sprinters booty and legs as opposed to a marathon runners pair of toothpicks.

i’d be happy to pass along some of my leg workouts.. i’ve seen amazing results with high reps/lighter weights and plyos.. alot of which u can modify to do at home
just let me know
PLUS, some days are actually cardio days cuz i’m moving around so much.. 2 birds with 1 stone, so to speak …
