Question: How do I fit work into my gym schedule?

Really?! Serious question!  Here’s the problem…today is day 4 of week 11 (yes I know I’m obssessive and I keep track of that… wanna know the hour?).  Anyway, all I think about now is working out.  Any idea how difficult it is trying to muddle through a loan app when all you think about is the work out you’re gonna put in that day.  It’s so easy to throw up your hands and head for the gym when you’re buried in someone else’s tax returns.  Good for my physique…bad for my bank account.  Yes! this is coming from the girl that initially wrote "I don’t" to the question "why you love it" on the profile page.  What a differnece 11 weeks makes huh??? I need some serious help people

Hey guys…quick side note…it’s not flattering when you write "you’re looking mighty pretty…for your age" or any variation thereof LOL.  We appreciate the sentiment behind the compliment and for the most part get that you’re trying to be sweet, not insulting but really it’s not that flattering.  Personally, I have no hang ups about the fact that I’m 37.  I feel great, look great and I still get carded when I go out, so I’m cool, my self esteem is intact, but really adding the "for your age" does take away from the what I believe is meant to be a sweet compliment…that’s just me.  What do you think?

Hey thanks everyone!  I’m slightly overwhelmed since I posted my new progress pics last night.  The response has been incredibly flattering and quite humbling.  First I can’t believe I made it to the top profiles and the comments, friends requests and PM’s have just been non-stop.  I feel like I won a prize or something and come to think of it…I did.  To receive the kind of attention that I have received from people that I greatly respect and turn to for advice and knowledge is quite a prize indeed…so thanks!

Is there really such a thing as a bad workout?

I had a BAD workout today..or did I?  I was sluggish today.  I had no desire to workout, so I dug deep, put on my work out clothes, that was at about 3:30pm, then I did the most logical thing and got on BB.com, answered comments…yada, yada, yada.  Well I finally made it to the gym right around 6:45pm. 

I get there and I’m feeling like I rather have a tooth pulled.  I start psyching myself out by reminding myself how GREAT I’m gonna feel once I’m done.  Well that didn’t work. so I start formulating a plan to cheat myself out of a workout.  It’s back day so I start planning a bicep workout or maybe it was more like a pinky workout…whatever…I wanted out of there and badly!

My back workout is very methodical and well planned and it starts with Deadlifts…right!!!!  I’m gonna do deadlifts…sure!!  So new plan…today I’m gonna use all those fancy back exercise machines that I still have to read the directions to use because I never ever use that row of machines (yes I workout at one of those fancy gyms that has rows of machines for every body part).  

I start with the first machine, I read the directions, adjust the seat, choose a weight that I’m hoping will be heavy enough to justify my existence today.  I don’t even know what the machine is called but you pull the levers toward you, kinda like the pec deck but not really…anyway.  I do my 4 sets of 4 at a really heavy weight followed by 2 sets of 12 at lighter weight.  I then move on to the lat pulldown, same drill 4 sets followed by 2 sets, cable row…same thing.  I get done and start walking over to the free weights because now I’m gonna do my shrugs…that’s when it hit me…I wasn’t so crapped out to be there any more.  The machines tricked me and put me in a trance of focus and well…I was just "picking them up and putting them down"! 

I had an attitude adjustment, I didn’t get my deadlifts done…but I had a kickass back workout.  So I learned that I don’t need to be so regimented.  My dread of deadlifts almost sent me home packing when in reality all I needed to do was adjust the routine a little.  I’ll get those deadlifts done with more determination next back workout.  You better believe it! 

BUTT…I’M LOVING IT!!!!

So…I thought I could only share this tidbit with a few folks I thought would understand it best…My sister, my best friend and Steve…then I realized…hell you’re ALL as crazy as I am, and know EXACTLY what I’m talking about!  Don’t even try to lie!  I just spent 20 minutes admiring my own BUTT!  Yes that’s right my own BUTT!!!  I squeezed it, stared at it, squeezed it again, shoved it into what used to be a tight pair of jeans, admired it some more than squeezed it again…just for good measure.  Whatever…don’t act like you’ve never done it or it’s equivalent before.  Good times!  Keep grinding!

Ha! it just never occurred to me!  Give me a break, I’m a rookie.  I work my back once a week, I just never really paid much attention to it’s progress.  I’ve been too obessesed with my abs and thighs.  Go figure!  P.S. check out the rest of my progress pics.  Today is day one of week 8.
