Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.-Marianne Williamson

THat is a great quote. It is so true. How often is our day brightened just by the presence of a positive person. How often have we brightened others day by being positive? So many people are content with going through life being average. It is those who refuse to settle and who constantly strive to better themselves that also better the world.

I love Marianne Williamson, she writes such inspirational prayers for women. Nice quote, very appropriate on here.

pleased to see you atributed it to Marianne Williamson. It annoys me when I see it attributed to Nelson Mandela. He used it in a speech and attributed it correctly but when you see it posted on refrigerator etc citing Mandela I think perhaps that Williamson is being robbed alittle. Mandela is famous for so many other reasons and doesn’t need the help.

I, too, love this quote. I’ve argued the same thing to many a pessimist. It’s always nice to be reminded that I’m not the only one who feels this way.

Pray and work that we may all move more and more toward that point of liberation. thanks for sharing Marianne’s quote. Here’s my favorite: "The greatest enemy of the truth is not the lie, deliberate, contrived and dishonest, but the myth, persistent, persuasive and unrealistic." …attributed to John F. Kennedy. I like this one, because so much of what passes for truth on a daily basis is more mythic in quality than anything else. Thanks for giving iand sharing what is meaningful to you.
