Monkey Records Shattered!
I’ve mentioned that I don’t care how strong I am and that’s still true, but man I am so stoked over some strength increases I’m seeing. One of the things I worried about when I ditched the personal trainer was that I would get complacent and not push myself to keep trying harder things. This week I did the following things (all of which I’ve never done before):
-
Lunges with 50 lb dumbbells
-
Shoulder presses with 60 lb dumbbells (only got 6 reps and they weren’t pretty but I did them)
-
Flat bench with 70 lb dumbbells
When I started out my grip strength was so pathetic I couldn’t even do shrugs with the 70 lb dumbbells. And to top it off when I stepped on the scale today I was 154.4, which is also a new record for me. Woo hoo!

It all starts by you wanting to get bigger…then you mature in the sport and those numbers become a little more fun. Soon you will find yourself with what you thought was an outrageous number as your next PR!! I am telling you the truth! Great job by the way…ohhh…and in response to your comment on my blog, the guy I was working out with was deadlifting 545 lbs.!!!! Fogg82 on bodyspace

Most impressive bro … glad to see that you are taking things on and it has become a rhythm you are able to keep up with out a trainer. Now is where things get cool. Self motivation … NICE!

No stress there!
I have found that having a training partner works better than having a Personal Trainer which is good when you are starting. Ditto the other esteem members of this post, yes, you have now some knowledge that you did not have before, and setting new P.R. is always good, and a healty way to keep track of your progress.
Keep training heavy and smart.

WOW!! Talk about accomplishments.
I remember first reading your blogs when you were finishing up your sessions with your trainer, and how you talked about how you weren’t sure about the future of fitness without the PT by your side. And NOW look at you!
Shattering those personal records, left and right.
You’re fantastic. I’m so glad you see all that you’ve accomplished!!!
