I Love BodySpace!!

I was thinking the other day about how lucky I was to find BodySpace when I did.  At the time I was seriously thinking that I might be too old to start lifting.  BodySpace really was the kick in the pants I needed to get myself to join a gym.  When I first visited it I assumed it would be filled with a bunch of 250 plus pound guys that I wouldn’t be able to relate to.  I was really surprised when I found that was wrong.  Seeing guys that had my athletic background (which was no athletic background), my “before” build (painfully skinny), and my age make drastic changes to their bodies was incredibly inspiring.  It really lit a fire in me and gave me a “If they can do it, so can I!” attitude.

Out of everyone I associate with I’m the only one who goes to the gym.  I really don’t have anyone that can help me or understands what I’m trying to accomplish.

I love that when I have a question about lifting I can get answers from people who have been doing this for years.

I love that I see that people are overcoming horrible illness and/or physical impairements and still have the drive and internal fire to keep training (or the desire to train when they can).  It’s motivating and inspiring.

I love that I’ve met people who started where I was at and who are at about the same progress level as me.  It’s motivating to want to keep up with them and not fall behind.

I love that people are always cheering and encouraging you.  When I started posting pics I was puzzled when people started saying I was improving.  It wasn’t until I put pics side by side that I noticed it too.  I swear you don’t really see changes in yourself when they’re happening slowly.

I love there are people on here who always make me laugh.

I didn’t expect this but I also love that I can help people.  I got a message from a guy my age saying that my profile had inspired him and had given him hope that it was not too late to get into shape.  That was one of the nicest compiments I’ve ever received.

I love BodySpace!

I agree! I’m more impressed with this site and all it has to offer everyday. I only wish I thought of it!

What a positive post! :) In my personal life, I am the only one in my circle of loved ones that has dedicated myself to proper eating and fitness, and it does get a little lonely. I am so blessed to belong to a community with so many other like-minded people!! :)

I love bodyspace too! And yes. You look wonderful! :)

Bodyspace is such a great community since most everyone is on here for the right reasons. Glad you found the motivation you needed and keep it up. It’s true you never know who you may be inspiring from a distance.

I’ve said nice things too…Like, "wow! you are as white as I am!" LOL….I do agree with you though, this site is awesome. I do sometimes find it a little discouraging when there are kids on this site that are bigger than I am! I mean, how the hell am I supposed to compete when an 18 year old makes me look small??? I guess that is just one of those things that can drive us even harder!

I totally agree with you…When it comes to bodybuilding, not everybody understands the driving force that compells to get greater achievements. It’s not only about the looks, obviously. The sense of good health and greater accomplishments is very good for the spirit, too. I haven’t posted any pics from my progress, but some people at the gym that I even hadn’t noticed before, take the time to tell me that I’m doing fine and that my improvements are noticeable. Thanks to people like you, who inspire others and show that it’s still possible!

Agreed. You are an inspiration to me. I’d "die" to look like you, especially when I reach your age. You’re doing an AMAZING job, and since there aren’t any other words to use, I’ll shut up. Keep posting, and keep going!

Stress….. this was a great post…ultimately it is the people on this site that really make the difference. I agree, there are so many here that are willing to cheer each other on and celebrate in the victories and pull us out of the holes we fall down in…. :) mine is peanut butter?

Dude: I am warmed by your positive vibe, especially after being exposed to a bit of toxic circumstance wandering to the wrong side of the tracks recently! The positive outweighs the occassional encounter with the negitive, big time.

It is odd this who gizmo. It is kinda like having an extra set of buds at the gym … Been around the site for a year now and it almost like I am feeling like I know folks some what. Crazy, eh?

Wow..Group HUG!!:) and can i get an AMMENN :)
I do love the website as well. It’s nice to have people who actually have the same mindset about training/dieting..etc.
The casual gym go’er or people in general don’t get it.. and it sucks having to explain ""Bodybuilding"" or why your in the gym so much, why you eat "plain boring food"..lol
    Bodyspace is amazing.

and Mmeyer.. you always know the right things to say????…dork ;) - and no one will ever be as white as you are casper:)

I was just defending bb.com to someone who has NO idea what it is really all about. I don’t have ANYONE close to me that even remotly shares or even understands my passion for this lifestyle. Everyone looks at me like I’m crazy when I tell them that I lift. I could not continue without my support system here! I guess I would end up barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen!! NO THANK YOU!!
BTW-thanks for the support and the laughs :)
