I’m Too Tired To Work Out!

I was just absolutely exhausted at work today.  I didn’t get much sleep last night and I’ve in general been stressed out trying to keep up with the various tasks associated with the hell on Earth known as the Christmas season.  More that once today I thought to myself that I didn’t know how I was going to possibly lift tonight.  Subconsciously the little devil on my shoulder was telling me to blow off the gym and just let the couch swallow me tonight.  Luckily I didn’t do that I went anyway.  I ended up having an awesome workout and now I feel absolutely great.  So was I really not as tired as I thought I was and my mind was playing tricks on me or did the adrenalin and endorphins from pushing hard at the gym kick me into overdrive?  Either way, how many people don’t exercise because they think they’re too tired after a hard day’s work?  I’m glad I learned not to think that way!

  1. Hurc Says:

Never confuse mental fatigue with physical fatigue. Often a workout is the best way to relieve mental fatigue since you can "check out" for a while and just let the physical side take over…especially if you drive a desk.

  2. Growing-up Says:

When I skip a work-out day because I have to finish some project, or a deadline is approaching fast and I need to deliver something, back home I do some free hand work-out. Push-ups, sit-ups, crunches, you name it.
But also what Hurc is saying is also very true.
Sometimes I end demolished from work, and by the end of the karate lesson I’m all but a different person, same with lifting, so it all depends on you.
Did I mentioned that in your last picture you look quite big? Great job, don’t let the bad christmas get to you, open your doors for the good Christmas :)
