Today I was excited to jump out of bed and have breakfast. After my class I went on the elliptical for a whole hour! I’ve never done that before and burned 480 calories. I used a different performance program which held a steady resistance 7 and built up to incline 16 of 20! I had never gone above 10 before today. I felt great after and I still do 5 hours later.

For this week I am giving up on goal pounds and micro managing fats, carbs and protein. I just want to maintain the habit of eating no direct carbs and mostly animal proteins. Of course now that it is warmer I naturally feel more active and have been walking around a lot more. During these last days of classes and finals week I still want to have time to sleep and rise early to lift some weights!

I spent the rest of my day cutting, gluing and painting. I had a healthy breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner today so I feel very well fueled for leg day tomorrow, but I feel light and fit too. I have also cleared a lot of stuff out of my room today in preperation for moving twice in 2 weeks! Got rid of some generations old, unworn clothes and some empty boxes and random papers from the beginning of the semester.

Sleep!

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Headache last night put me to bed pretty early. I slept in until 3, missing an anatomy quiz and a final review. My friend got me the review packet and I will have to take a make-up quiz for anatomy after class on Monday. I can’t believe next week is the last week of classes! Freshman year went by so fast. I found out last night that my dad will be getting me on Tuesday of finals week. So everything can fit into his van! I’ll have to move my Wednesday final to Monday and tell my job that I’ll be back to start work on Wednesday, even if it is only for 10 or so days. That’s still between 200 and 400 bucks! It is so nice out today but my head still hurts. I skipped breakfast because I was sleeping and my lunch was a coffee and some aspirin. Dinner will be tonight at 10 pm, marking the end of my first 24 hour fast. Chobani with   2 scoops of rice protein and some chopped pineapple pieces. Also I want to go tanning on Monday if it is bad weather but I have to do a 200 calorie cardio workout first. I am only 6 hours away from finishing my first fast.

Made it 22 hours into my fast and had 2 servings of seed crackers and a serving of dark chocolate dreams. Tried to make a protein shake and it turned out gross because I added too much rice protein. The I tired to make protein oatmeal and still added too much protein. Threw them both away and brushed my teeth. No more food for the rest of the night. Not sure if I want my second fast to be right after the first one. Depends on if I workout tomorrow. If I do decide to fast tomorrow, it started tonight at 9 pm.

Wednesday & Thursday

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Day 1 - Wednesday

Walked to campus empty, had breakfast and had a very busy day. Depo shot made my arm very sore. That plus being rough last night made me extremely tired. Early bed time!

Day 2 - Thursday

Lost more than a pound of muscle and gained more than a pound of fat in 3 days. The muscle loss could be the creatine getting out of my system, but true muscle loss is likey. Not sure what to think about 1.4 pound of fat gain. Just another punch in the gut that things really have to change radically. Had a hard time getting out of bed. Eggs and a bagel today for breakfast, no English muffins were available but I guess I could have had half. I am going to edit this program a little bit. Here are the rules pulled forward from the past month;

While my metabolism is officially slowed back to my pre-bulk hunger levels, I hope it hasn’t dipped below that. I haven’t done chest or back in 23 days, haven’t done Legs in 12 days and haven’t done arms in 11 days. Wtf!? My numbers are staying the same, I need to add strength training back into my life.

As far as this whole plan goes, I am not going to consider week 1 part of my diet at all. If I gain fat this week, it will be enough to disreguard my loss in week 2 and completely restart a 4 week plan of attack. For this last (maybe) week, I want to  up my protein to where it was in week 1, closer to 140 grams than 100. And I really, really have to watch my carbs. Anything above 70 is just unhelpful and anything about 50 is maintenance. I have been having around 45 g of fat a day and this also has to come back down. I finished off the almonds and the peanuts so my main fat source in the room in the peanut butter. No more processed foods in the dc. Just protein and veggies! I had a sausage egg and cheese yesterday so I have to fast 2 days total (2 full 24 hours periods) before next Wednesday. Tonight I’ll make sure to get my 120 grams of protein so that tomorrow I can start my first day of fasting. As of this afternoon I was completely carb-loaded so I will have enough energy and strength to do so without any negative physical effects.

End of the Week Stuff

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Day 5 - Sunday

Walked to breakfast at 11:30 then showered then walked to cvs then had a filling but light lunch at dinner time and a filling chicken dinner during my usual binge time. So the total of my 3 meals was less calories than me snacking all day. Danced in my room last night too. Fun stuff.

Day 6 - Monday

Cheated a bit and felt the urge to weigh in. 111.0 - 19.7% (89.1 Lean, 21.9 Fat) Yay! Had quite a great day yesterday and it paid off.

Today I had breakfast at 9, classes from 10 to 1 and lunch at 1. Then walked to Shaws and Rite Aid. Filling chobani, whey and peanut butter dinner at 5. Nothing more for awhile except tea. Number wise I feel confident my muscles will be fine at my current protein intake, so nothing more is even necessary. Legs and abs still sore from the other night =]

Day 7 - Tuesday

Regular day today. Did 30 minutes on the elliptical before lunch =] I am sleeping out tonight so I probably wont weigh in tomorrow.

Wednesday:  4/23 - Actual: 111.2 - 20.9% (87.9 Lean, 23.2 Fat) My body felt very achey from my birth control shot, I wonder if that has anything to do with this.

Saturday

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

Woke up bloated!! What the! Why? Its probably a little bloating and actual fat in that area. I do not want to be those girl with a pouch! Starting my day off with some warm tea. No breakfast until my stomach growls and then a workout to burn that all off. I went to breakfast with my roommate and her friend, who went to a party that I was supposed to be at. Guys from the other party I was supposed to be at were there too. I would have been pissed if I went to the guys party and no one was there. No one even told me.   I need a job here for the summer. With 5 classes my weekends are still unproductive and boring, with just 2 classes the summer is going to feel like a way too long weekend. Yea yea I know that’s what summer is supposed to be about but I’d rather be busy. An another note, I’ve been watching the discovery channel all day. I want to be wild, live like cavemen, be challenged physically and mental more so than classes and a gym does. Cooking and preparing food makes you decidedly less hungry.   I stayed really lean standing at work 40 hours per week, even having sugary, processed milkshakes most nights. Again during my month long winter break I was working again and got down to my old 17% bodyfat while retaining the highest muscle mass of my life! I am sure I’ll come up with a calculated plan to keep me standing 40 hours per week. 60×40=2,400 minutes, so lets estimate 1.5 cals burned standing 2,400×1.5=3,600! About a pound a week just by standing 5 or 6 hours a day instead of sitting all freaking day at desks. How am I going to do this? Take the long way to classes, climb more stairs, stand when watching tv or reading from a book, pace even! Take walks around keene streets when I don’t feel like going on the elliptical. Try running on the treadmill. Follow through with the one hundred push up plan, 200 crunches plan, 200 squats plan and might as well add triceps dips into that mix. Ok, back to standing. Tomorrow I’ll be doing tons of walking aka ‘gathering’ so that will balance out my regular Sunday inactivity.

Last New Food

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

Saturday ended the week with my favorite new food of all, Peanut Butter & Co Dark Chocolate Dreams peanut butter. After becoming used to the delicious and slightly saltier taste of almond butter, the first spoonful of this was surprisingly sweet and nutty.

It has the same protein as most peanut butters, a little less fat and more sugar from the chocolate. This is great mixed in with my greek yogurt and smeared on an apple. And of course, right out of the jar! This company makes many more flavored peanut butters, not other nut butters though. I want to try the white chocolate peanut butter and cinnamon raisin peanut butter! You can buy them right from the company site for $5-6.

A different kind of breakfast

Friday, April 17th, 2009

This morning instead of having my usual eggs + English muffin + peanut butter + fresh melon combo I was pushed in another direction. Im on a lower carb plan now, which means no more 40 plus grams of carbs at breakfast, simple or complex. This morning I didn’t have a workout so I wasn’t concerned with having a ton of energy. I got my regular scrambled eggs and then, although I felt silly, I put about 2 ounces of raisins in a small bowl, put a small amount of water in the bowl and microwaved it.

I have been craving raisin oatmeal or warm raisin cookies since I tried the Kashi oatmeal earlier this week. Warm, soft oatmeal and raisins is heaven. My diet says no to oatmeal today but no reason I can’t still get half of that pleasure back and still have the raisins. I drained the bowl and ate them, but they tasted a bit watery - Maybe I wont put as much in the bowl. Thats if there will be a next time. It completely got rid of my weeklong craving for them. Yes - you can officially add ‘warm raisins’ to the weirdest cravings list!

Fridays New Food

Friday, April 17th, 2009
Clif Builders bar. I’ve never tried these because they are almost 2 dollars and have 30 carbs, including lots of sugar. I bought this knowing I could fit it in as a pre-workout / breakfast meal for my busier 8 am mornings. I did just that. It was pretty calorie dense, but the inside was filled with little puffy crisps, I was not expecting that. It did take me a little longer than usual to finish this and it definetly kept me full. The flavor, vanilla almond, tasted a little sweet and very slightly nutty but I dont think I would have guessed the flavor if it didn’t say it on the package. It wasn’t bad, just not worth $2 to be a regular part of my diet.

Very Different Friday

Friday, April 17th, 2009

Cardio after my classes. Already ate too many carbs. So I’ll have to work extra long. Burned off all my carbs in the gym! The salad bar had slim pickings so I went for turkey and an english muffin, so I still got in all the fiber and protein that my salad would have had. After my shower I was brave enough to go outside in a tank top! It was white so people noticed my tan more than my rounder areas. I love these kinds of tank tops, makes my boobs, arms and shoulders look nice. I played frisbee for almost an hour outside with some friends. Felt kind of silly, but it was nice. Jumping around a bit burns 3 times more calories than the sitting I would have otherwise been doing. I just tried to make oatmeal with a scoop of protein powder. Note to self, stop trying to make this come out right! I either burn the protein powder so it chunks up or its too powdery like eating mushy chalk or who knows what else goes on in that bowl. I stopped eating halfway through and now I feel very dragged down, disgusted and have absolutely zero interest in the other potential dinners in my room.

5 Things I Am Proud of Today:

I walked around and played frisbee in a tank top!

I burned 200 Calories on the Eliptical

I stuck to my breakfast and lunch plans in the dc

I dolled myself up, instead of thinking about food

Well, only 4. Gotta work on that.
