The goal is in reach…

April 11, 2007

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!  Some days I weigh 123, but I think 125 is more accurate.  I have been working pretty hard at the gym, and since adding strength training into my workouts on a daily basis, I have really started to see gains, both in weight loss and in fat loss.  I feel great, and I know that this feeling is only the beginning!  When do you weigh yourself?  In the morning when you first wake up?  Or at night after a whole day has gone by?  I’m wondering which is more valid…

Who said that it’s okay to put people down?

February 22, 2007

Okay, my boyfriend is a body builder by choice in his "free time," and he sacrifices sleep and tastey meals for it.  I respect him for his level of dedication.  Is it fair for him to expect me to have the same level of devotion?  I am trying to stay motivated, because my body likes to take its time to show results, but how is it alright for him to flip out when I miss one of my workouts?  Shouldn’t it be my decision?  Is anyone else feeling like they have to do this more for their significant other than for themselves other than me?  I want to do it for me, but he isn’t giving me a chance to do that with all of his expectations and his questions about my workouts and if I did them or not.  It’s just so frsutrating.  He’s not even talking to me right now.  He says that I shouldn’t say that I’m going to do something if I’m not going to follow through with it, but what I don’t get is why he can’t understand that I’m trying my best right now to follow through with it, it’s just going to take some time to rebuild my confidence (that he keeps knocking down), and my lifestyle?  Am I wrong?  Am I out of line here?

Here we go…

February 20, 2007

Well, since the incident with my friend who was trying to help me (in a strange way, I know), I’ve made a schedule of exact exercises that I am going to do each day, each day focusing on one of two areas of my body.  I am not ever going to compete or try to win any metals, so for me it’s just about the basics.  Cardio is going to be my starter each day, for an hour each day, then the strength training to follow.  Girls- (and guys if you know stuff like this) - do you suggest any supplements which might help my muscle grow so that I can increase muscle and help to decrease my body fat?  Any "must haves"?  Let me know!  I’ve always been a runner, but I’m a newbie at the weight lifting portion.  Wish me luck!

Sticks and stones…

February 19, 2007

Well, I’ve been doing pretty good with my exercise lately.  I have been doing plenty of cardio, about an hour a day, and recently, as of last week, I added strength training to my regiment.  Today, though, I had a disappointing conversation with someone who I consider to be a friend.  He is a body builder and wants to be a trainer someday, so I trust what he says, but today he basically told me that I don’t have what it takes and that I don’t know what I’m doing.  I’m pretty bummed out right now, and even though I’m not going to let this ruin my fitness goals, it did ruin my day.  Any encouragement at this point could help a ton.
