First Blog

Today was back day. starting at 3pm my mind was elsewhere. the beginning of the workout was slow and quiet, when its usually intense and amusing. Reverse grip pull ups, Then a bent over row… so far the workout has been flat. I dont know if the trainer noticed that we wernt as intense as usual, but he came up and asked to workout with us. Hes a huge guy that knows his stuff so we gladly accepted. Warming up on deadlifts with 135, to 225, then came 315. I usually hammer out 6-8 and stop, but having this Huge guy shouting at me to keep driving motivated me! i put it up 10 times easy. i reach for a quarter to slap on the sides and the trainer laughs and tells us to throw on another plate. Ive never in my life attempted a 405 deadlift and here this guy is asking me to rep it. I couldnt say no lol. i throw on the weight… twist the wraps around the barbell… drop my butt and drove with all my strength. i got it up once, i was so surprised that when i went for a second one my form gave out and my back curved over, before any injuries could happen i dropped the weight. I slight aww of disappointment came from the trainer followed by some encouraging words. My goal now is to hit 405 at least 4-6 times. time to get to work!

Great job on deadlifts! If you can put up 10 reps at 315, I’m not surprised you could lift 405. You’re 1 rep max is probably even higher than that. Keep it up!
