Longer workouts

Well, I have been having some pretty good workouts in the last few weeks.  It seems like my energy levels are really high.  One problem I have now is that my workouts are long then I want them to be.  This is due to the new people at the gym with their resolutions.  My gym is small so now there is a lot of wait time on the equipment.  I been able to go over to the dumbbells and get in a set or 2 while waiting for a bench to clear up or the pull-up bar to free.  If anything I been getting in a lot more volume in.  Maybe this might help.  In any case, I’m sure by mid February my gym will be back to normal like it does every year.

I’ve been slacking on these blogs.  At least it’s been only on my blogs and not my diet or workouts.  I managed to make it through 4 x-mas parties without eating bad.  One reason is I make sure when I bring my dish to the party its something healthy and a protein source.  I figure someone is always going to bring a veggie tray so that gives me 2 things to eat.  Anyway…..just writing a blog so the bodyspace site will stop sending me emails to tell how much I been slacking.

Thanksgiving

I think for the first time in my life I wasn’t a glutton on Thanksgiving.  Even with having to eat at two houses……I ate what I wanted without eating what I wanted again and again and again.

I sat down and I can’t get up!!!!

Well……I just might be here sitting at my computer the rest of the day because I got back from the gym 30 minutes ago and sat in my chair.  It was leg day.  I hit them pretty hard because I can barely stand up.  So I guess I’ll just sit here as long as I can.  Walking is overrated anyway, my chair has wheels.

Pain in the neck

I woke up this morning with a stiff neck.. I cant even look over my left shoulder without pain.  I figured I couldn’t get my back workout in because of it.  To my surprise, I had a great workout.  The Neck didn’t effect it at all.  The only problem was someone stole the weight belt that you can add plates to when you do pull-ups and dips so I had to use body weight on my pull-ups.  Other then that all was well.

Thursday

Today was my day off from working out.  Always the day after leg day for me.  They’re pretty sore today and it hurts to sit on the toilet…lol  Tomorrow I am going to up my cardio a bit.  Starting in December they are having a promotion in my gym.  You have to go 100 miles on any cardio machine in the month of December.  If you do you get 3 months free.  I can care less about the 3 months but I’m always looking for ways to keep me motivated.  Having a group of guys to sort of compete with will help keep those holiday pounds off.   Right now I only do 3 days a week cardio.  I will have to to do about 10 miles a session if I’m going to hit the 100 mile mark.  I might have to add in an extra day a week if I’m going to do this.   If not I’ll be at the gym on New years eve trying to make up the 25 miles I’m behind.

Leg Day

November 14, 2007

Today was leg day.  I worked out around 1pm an I just carried my son up to bed and could barely walk up the stairs.  Thats always a good sign that I had a good workout.  As far a my cold goes….it seems to be going away.

I’m still Yoda

In yesterday’s blog I gave an analogy of my workout with my head cold to being like Yoda from Star Wars.

Here is the quote in case you missed it.

In a way it was like being Yoda.  You know how he is so old and walks all slow and with a cane but when it was time to fight he was jumping all over the place kicking a$$ with his light saber.  But right after the fight he goes right back to the cane and walks real slow again.
Well, today was the same thing.  I felt like crap before and after the workout but during the workout I felt great.  Strange.

I am Yoda?

I have a head cold.  I somehow managed to get my workout in and it didn’t seem to suffer from the head cold at all.  I actually felt great during the workout but as soon as I left I felt like crap again.  In a way it was like being Yoda.  You know how he is so old and walks all slow and with a cane but when it was time to fight he was jumping all over the place kicking a$$ with his light saber.  But right after the fight he goes right back to the cane and walks real slow again.  That was me with my head cold and my workout.
