Kempo X

March 10, 2008

Just wanted to share this vid with you guys. Its really the behind scenes footage of Kempo X from the P90X series, but just wanted to give you all a taste of what I put myself through. Believe me, when you are finished with this workout, the amount of sweat running down your body is about the same volume as the Pacific and Atlantic oceans put together. i was so amped doing this workout, it suprised me that I was not checking the clock to see how much of this brutal torture i have remaining in minutes. But you know what? It was fun, fun, fun. the workout is about an hour but its not an hour of cardio. Theres warm up stretches with a teeny bit of yoga stretches thrown in. The cool down is alot of breathing and unwinding, basically getting your heart rate back to normal. What i like about this workout is that Tony emphasizes breathing and using your entire body when applying punches, kicks and blocks. you have to engage your core and let your hips help to follow through with strikes.

In between each kempo session, theres some jumping jacks, X jumps, jogging on the spot and mimicking skipping moves. Its really great, I think if you want a challenge and you don’t want to hit a plateau or if you have a short attention span (like me, lol) I recommend ordering and trying the P90 X series and throw it in with your regular workouts, just to add variety.

Supplement update.

March 10, 2008

Theres is so much talk about the good or bad about fat burners. There are fitness experts who even say that using them are a waste of time. As far as I’m concerned, use (or don’t use) whatever works for you. What people have to understand is that you can’t use a fatburner like a magic pill without any exercise and expect to look like the million dollar baby. Whether you like it or not, yopu have to be training (cardio and resistance with some good yoga thrown in the mix) aaaaannnnndddddd, you have to be eating 5 to 6 times a day making sure that your last meal is high protein and low carb.

The supplements I’m using for my plan of attack are as follows:

MHP Activite - excellent vitamin, mineral and energy/digestive supplement.

MAX CLA

Now 3-6-9 omega EFA’s

Lipo 6X - this keeps me revved up and controls my appetite (well for nearly 3 hours, lol)
ON 100% Whey protein (taste great and I even mix it in my waffles/bakes breakfast food.)
Whey up protein and energy drink (used as a pre workout drink)

water - its free (from the government, lol, well sorta) but I use Nestles pure life purified water.

Seven seas Effervescent Vitamin C

I’ll keep you guys updated as to how i’m doing and what is working for me. So far these supplements make me feel great. I’ll post a progress pick of myself by April 23, 2008.

Enough Procrastination and great West Indian food, Italian, chinese…..oop

March 10, 2008

Okay I’m back!! This morning (Monday March 10, 2008) I did Kempo X from the P90X series. This evening, I’m going to do the back and Bi’s workout also from the P90X series. I have to stay focused people. I even took off some pics from some fellow body space members, both male and female who sport great physiques, to use as screen savers so that I will be constantly reminded that that is the goal I need to reach, for both aesthetics and health reasons.

I took a before pic which is in my progress area. Although its from last year, because of my procrastination, I pretty much look the same. I intend to have minimum body fat, preferably 14%.

Does anyone out there know how to work up to pull ups? I love the exercise but I suck at it.

Plan of attack

September 14, 2007

Like most people out there, I have procrastinated time and time again on building my best body ever. We get take up with "busy" lives, fast food or just goofing off. However, when you hang with your friends or what ever other public activity, you notice that your waist line looks bulky and you have a pouch. You see all kinds of stuff that you really wish could be a little more tapered - thats exactly how I felt. Yet despite that, I still procrastinated. Well "No More!" Its time to attack the body fat that I can really do without.

I favour a combination of cardio, resistance/weight training, yoga and clean nutrition. Notice I used the term "nutrition" because that "diet" word just doesn’t cut it for me. Like Bill phillips, his brother Sean and other fitness prefessionals have countlessly said, if you are training, you have to feed your body - 1 portion of protein with 1 portion of carbohydrates. If its cooked food like pasta, brown rice or sweet potato with lean steak fish, chicken breast or turkey breast, 1 portion of vegetables is ideal and nutritionally sound. Nutriton shakes that are high in protein with moderate carbs and packed with vitamins and minerals are great to meet the five to six times a day eating in small amounts quota. If I can’t get a balanced shake (love EAS RTD Carb sense, myoplex lite), I would mix my favourite protein Optimum whey with low carb soy milk and eat a small apple or kiwi fruit.

In terms of supplements, I have such good water flow (down there). I’m always peeing! Thats the only draw back, especially if I’m driving and need to pee really bad and low and behold, because they are digging up the roads down here in Barbados like if its a salt mine, I’m stuck in traffic!! LOL! But water makes me feel so hydrated and makes my skin look clear. Not to mention it helps the other supplements that I take for my war on the bulge to be absorbed by my body.

The other supplements I really love are Universal Animal Pak, Primaforce CLA, Xpel, and of course Lipo 6X. Lipo 6X is mad as hell! This is my first week and I already feel smaller. I went on the scale and right now I’m 152 lbs from 155 lbs! Albeit, it may very well be water weight, but who cares? I’m losing something, hahahahaha!!

Next week Sunday I will be doing my progress measurements and body fat tracking levels. I will have that info for you guys on my main page and talk about in in my blog (Try not to be too boring this time, LOL)
