Ut Ohs!
Well, One of my goals is to curl the 70 dumbbells at my gym (and eventually the 80s). I’ve been increasing the weight as best I can. I’ve gone from the 40s to the 50s to the 60s. . . . I should be able to curl the 65s but I haven’t tried them to verify that. There’s just one big problem. During the last couple weeks, my wrists (especially my left one) have begun to bother me. My wrists can’t handle the stress I’m putting on them. I’ve been trying new things. I’ve noticed that the BARbell curls seem to put less stress on my wrists, but I prefer the dumbbells to ensure that both arms are working evenly and that my right arm isn’t lifting more of the weight to compensate for a weaker left arm . . . blah blah blah.
Anyway, I guess my goal of 70 pound dumbbell curls is going to have to be put on hold as I change around my workout routine to let my wrists recover. I’ll spend some time exercising my wrists and forearms with light to medium weights and focus on other body parts. I can’t really do any bench press (figured THAT out tonight) because THAT hurts my wrists (really just the left one). Oh well. I’m NOT going to take time off from working out. A lot of people on here seem to do that, but I think that’s one of the worst things I could possibly do. I’ll just try to go easy on my wrists and strengthen them gradually. When they’re stronger I’ll go back to my goal of increasing my dumbbell curl one rep max.
I’ve gained some more muscle mass, but my body fat % is also up. That is SO annoying. Oh well, I’ll accept it. Anyway . . . .that’s enough blabbing . .peeez out people.

Bummer, but I’ve found over the years that every now and then some new part of me hurts for a while but eventually heals and gets stronger (so far at least). I agree that you don’t want to stop working out, just look for the things you can do in the meantime. Good news about gaining some more muscle mass - a little fat isn’t too much of a price to pay in your case (now a lot of fat…that’s a different story). Keep up the great work!
