i dunno

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

I was planning to workout yesterday but didn’t.  I was sore in the morning and I was short on time later in the day.  I decided I’d give my body a little more time to recover and workout TODAY.  I have class until 9:30 pm.  I’ll have to get my *ss into the gym after that.  LATE workout tonight.

. . . And We’re Baaaaaack!

Monday, February 25th, 2008

Went to the weight room tonight.  50 lb dumbbell curls, 7 reps = a BARbell curl estimated one rep max of 121.  So I’m BACK to my previous personal best.  I SHOULD be able to do 1 rep with the 60 lb dumbbells.  I’ll attempt this soon, within a month.
Looking at myself in the mirror: I’m definitely making progress.  Slow and steady progress is just fine with me.  I think patience is the key.  I realize that it’s a marathon, not a sprint.  If I’m persistent then I should look like GREAT in 3 years.

My last body composition reading pegged my bodyfat at 10.2%; I’m very close to getting back into the single digits (one of my goals).  I’m making progress toward curling the 70 lb dumbbells (another of my goals).  I’m getting more and more definition everywhere, shoulders, back, chest, forearms, biceps, triceps are ALL looking better, gonna look better than I did last year (another of my goals).  Must admit the abs, lower back, and legs are about the same, but I can change that if/when I choose to.

Alright I’m tired.  Gotta go.  Hope everyone is doing well.

Depression, Apathy, and Frustration take their toll

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

Welp, it’s been awhile since my last post.  I had a lot of BS flying at me lately, I just couldn’t hack it, and it got to me.  I got upset and depressed and I stopped caring for a little while.  I didn’t workout for about 5 days, didn’t eat enough, and what I DID eat was unhealthy, spent much of my time in bed.  The toll?  I lost a few pounds.  Some of it was fat, but plenty of it was lean mass.  I finally sucked it up and got on with my life, got back into the weight room on the 15th, and sure enough, I’m weaker.  (Check my Barbell Bicep Curl on my bodyspace.)  It was my first workout in about 5 days and I felt sick after only 11 sets.  NOTE:  This is because I took Lipo6 and White Flood together pre-workout.  I’ve done it twice, and BOTH TIMES I felt sick after about 10 sets.  Never doing that again.

So anyway, I still have plenty of BS coming my way but I’m trying to keep going.  I’m eating better and I’m supposed to workout this evening.  On my last workout, the 15th, my barbell curl 1 rep max was 113.  Yesterday, I was doing some curls at work with the other guys and my barbell curl 1 rep max was up to 117.  I should have rested yesterday, but ah well.  I’m supposed to workout tonight and I’ll give it a shot and see if I can get back up to a 1 rep max of 121.  I have my doubts though because I haven’t let my arms recover.  I don’t care; I’m gonna try it anyway.

Peace out.  Hope everybody’s doing better than me.  LOL

can’t complain really

Monday, February 4th, 2008

A couple days ago I over did it.  I was working out early + hadn’t eaten in like, 12 hours (sleep and then no breakfast) + I had Lipo 6 AND White Flood before the workout.  Anyway about 10 sets into my workout I was feeling sick.  My skin was clammy and I felt like I was gonna  . ..  hurrrl.  Needless to say, I was done.  I had some protein in water and took a cool shower.  (I had heat exhaustion in the Marines and I know the warning signs.)  So yeah, stopped the workout and took a cool shower.

Anyway . . .. BEFORE I got sick I managed a new personal best.  I started my workout, as I often do, with alternating DB curls.  I attempted the 55 lb dumbbells for the first time and managed to complete 4 reps without too much trouble.  Much better than I anticipated.  Those 4 reps with the 55 lb dumbbells give me a predicted BARbell one rep max of 120 - 121 lbs, a new personal best.

I worked out this evening.  Again, I was able to get out 4 reps with the 55 lb dumbbells.   So, I’m happy.  I’ll be curling the 60’s in one or two weeks tops.  Had a pretty solid workout.

Bodyfat % is down AGAIN, thank God.  Muscle mass is UP.  I’m stronger.  Oh, I made a decision today.  I’ve decided to workout legs every other workout from now on.  Not exclusively legs, but I’ll work out legs in addition to the upper body.  So, workout every other day (been doing that for a little over a month) and workout LEGS every other workout.  My legs seem to take more time to recover so I’ll give them plenty of time to recover.  I used to rarely workout my legs, but I think working the legs is having a positive impact so I’m going to do it more often.

That’s about it.  Fingers crossed.  Peace out.  Hope everybody is doing well, making progress, and happy.

not today

Friday, February 1st, 2008

I was supposed to workout today, but I skipped it because I was still sore from my last workout.  Shoot.  That means I need to workout tomorrow and, if I’m going to workout tomorrow, then I’ll have to do it early before work.  shoot shoot shoot blast darn fudge dang it oh fiddle bisquits.  I should prolly be sleeping now . ..  gotta go.
