I had a great run today… I ran down to the beach (Port Hueneme) with my Italian Greyhound, Bocce. It was my first time back in a month due to injuries and a tough work schedule. Now I’m going back into the gym for the first time in 10 days…

Since May, I’ve been trying to cut down, using higher reps and lots of running. Well, two mondays ago I was running with my dog Bocce Ball (Italian Greyhound–awesome running companion!) when the titanium rod in my right leg suddenly started to hurt really bad. It was located right at one of the screws, and was so bad I limped home. I iced it, and for seven days I really stayed off of it, until it finally felt much better. Just as I was beginning my first day back running, I accidently kicked the corner of a desk so hard, I almost passed out. Now it’s been a week, and it’s still pretty painful. I did squats, and my leg routine yesterday, and it was still very sore. Of all the luck! This time it was my left foot. If anyone really noticed, they’d have seen me limping my right side one week, and the left side next week! Like, make up your mind, dude! Oh, well… I was on a roll, too. I gotta get back into my groove–summer’s not over yet!

At last I took some pics and tried to post them. On some of them the formatting was a little off. There was another one from last summer–my "before" picture– that was kinda painful. But more are on the way. Stay tuned!

OK, so I busted out the measuring tape today for the cold hard facts. I realized that my weight was off, because my scale was on a carpeted surface. I didn’t realize what a difference it made, but it was reading about 12 lbs lighter. And my waist size was kind of a shock, too, because 36-waist jeans fit pretty well, and 36-waist slacks are a little tight, but I thought my actual waist size would be about 37 or 38… Oh well. It just strengthens my resolve and my commitment. I’ve posted these for all to see, so it’s going to be full-on from now on.
On a related topic, I was just getting ready to leave for the gym about 9:30 last night, when the lovely Mrs. Shoehead said, "Oh, I just ordered a pizza!" Now, I know in retrospect I should’ve said, "Enjoy it, honey! See ya later!" and kept going out the door. but alas, I fell victim to the temptation. I somehow convinced myself that I’d work out around midnight. This is another lesson learned.
Have a great weekend, my blog-reading pals! Be safe!

Well, last night was legs. I woke up this morning for my run, and thought to myself, "I think I’ll wait…" Legs are really my least favorite workout, but that’s OK– today is shoulders, which is my favorite workout! (How’s that for positive thinking?)
Another thing recently on my mind is the fact that I’m now in my 40’s, and still trying to pursue a bodybuilder’s physique. I’m going to reach out to some other guys in here in their 40’s and get some insights and pep talk. Even though I’ve been lifting for over 20 years, the fact that I’ve never quite gotten to my optimal physique makes me still feel like a beginner. Well, I’ll work on it. I’m a big believer in mind-over-matter.

Man, I was on a roll with my training, but then I got a two-week gig on the movie Frankenhood. With the long hours, boredom, and the craft services, my whole training plan went out the window. It’s just amazing how three months of progress can get wiped out in two weeks! But I’m getting back into it.
PLUS, I’m gonna post some pictures up real soon. I don’t have a digital camera anymore, but I’m buying another one this week to post into my "Progress" category.
