6 Weeks Out

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Well, I’m 6 weeks out from Jr Nationals.  I had a pretty good week training.  I’m continuing to train legs 2 times a week in order to get my glute/ham tie in looking good.  I just got back from a 4 mile run and will hit the gym to train chest and abs, followed by cardio again.  I started training my abs last week with a program designed by Elijah Maine (Supermaine).  So far I’m pretty satisfied with the workouts.  He has an exercise that really works my obliques and I absolutely love it.

As far as how my body is looking at 6 weeks out, well, I’m not quite sure.  It’s hard for me to critique myself, since I look at myself in the mirror and step on the scale every morning.  My husband seems pleased, but I continue to wonder if my legs will look the way I need them to look at my competition.  I’m happy with my upper half, its my lower half that always leaves me puzzled…  I can definitely tell my body is leaner and my muscles are really taking a nice shape.  My body feels more compact or dense.  I guess when I say that, I mean, nothing seems to jiggle or move when I’m doing cardio.

At 8 weeks out, I was 11% bodyfat.  I will measure that this Friday before I go on a new diet routine.  Hopefully, I’ll have dropped at least a percent.  My goal is to be at 8% for my competition if not lower.

My attitude right now sucks and my husband isn’t afraid to let me know it.  He’ll call me out when I’m being a bitch.  The change in attitude, besides being tired and hungry all the time, is what sucks for me.  My job, at the moment, is stressful and that isn’t helping my attitude.  Hopefully, I’ll start to keep myself in check and present a better attitude.

7 Weeks Out

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

Well, I’m 7 weeks out from Junior Nationals.  I’m pretty happy with how my body is looking. I can definitely tell my body is in better shape compared to where I was 7 weeks out from my last competition this past November.  I’m currently at 11% bodyfat.  I’m not thrilled with what the scale says, but we all know that muscle weighs more than fat.  To most guys that doesn’t matter, but let’s face it girls, sometimes we are happier with the number on the scale.

My training is going well, except for my stubborn glutes and hamstrings.  My ass has always been the area that loves to store fat and never wants to get rid of it.  Therefore I train legs twice a week.  My husband (who’s my trainer) kicked my ass this past Wednesday with my leg workout.  As much as it hurts to sit down, walk, or even just standing, I love it when my glutes are sore.  That way I know I got the most out of my workout.  Today is Saturday, and finally the soreness is gone.  I just got finished running 4 miles and I feel pretty good.  Tomorrow is another leg workout and I will be starting training my abs with a new program designed for me from Elijah Maine (SuperMaine).  This will be my first time working with him, so we’ll see how his ab routine goes.  From the looks of it, I think I’ll be faced with sore abs on Monday.

Welcome!
