I Wonder What Was Going Through His Mind
At the beginning of the video, pay attention to the man to the left of the screen doing leg extensions. And then, click to 5:40 at the end of the video. What do you notice?
The Best Exercise for Legs and Butt: Dumbbell SquatsWhat I really wanted to write about was doing ground squats and was looking for a video that demonstrates it the way Janthony told me to do them. The guys in the videos I found are NOT doing them the way I wanted ya’ll to see.
But basically, hold the heaviest DB’s you can manage (I do 45’s), and you squat until the DB’s touch the ground. I do 3 sets of 10 supersetted with lying leg curls. It’s a great exercise to do AND it’s great for your cardiovascular health. I am ALWAYS out of breath before I’m out of strength. Try them.
Cardio: 500

Great superset. DB’s make you really get full range of motion. Try supersetting them with DB stiff legged deadlifts. (you could even add split jump lunges to make it plyometric)

I’ve been doing Dumbbell Squats for a while now too. They’re fun, and I find that they put less strain on my back and knees.

What were we supposed to notice about the leg extension guy by the way?

You don’t find it odd that he was doing them for nearly 6 minutes straight?

I’m just dumbfounded by the pic of the freakishly huge legs before the video starts. Almost looks unreal, like a cartoon or CGI superhero character.

A good exercise to add to the library but I must admit I’m a bit disappointed by the bait-and-switch. The large leg guy at the very beginning had me prepared for a freak show!

Ha ha! Wow. Gonna try that on leg day, Friday. Thanks!

You don’t do 5 minute sets?

Nah, I don’t want to look like the guy on the cover photo of the vid.

I like the versatility of DB squats. You can even go lighter on the weights and hold them up in the curled position (elbows pointed forward if you wish to go deep) if you also want to feel it in your core.
I like how you superset with leg curls. You must really start to feel a good burn all over in the middle of the second set.
People like the 6-min leg extension guy are bewildering. For all we know he could be working on his muscular endurance (and wrecking the cartilage in his knees in the process) but he is likely the type who treats the gym like a spa. At least he wasn’t sitting on the exercise equipment… and texting.

I love ground squats or ass to the floor squats as I call them. Works that butt good!
