“I Can See It In Your Face”

Usually the first thing people notice when you’ve gotten into shape is your face.  If you’ve had weight to lose, just about everyone who comments will most likely say, "Have you lost weight?  I can see it in your face."

The face can be a good indicator of how far you’re coming along in your fitness journey.  But, some people here on Bodybuilding.com have nothing but a close up of their face showing in their progress pics.

Why do they just show their face week after week, month after month?  And what do you say to that when you want to comment on their progress?

"WOW!  Your lips look swole.  You must do a ton of lip-ups."

"Great work on the chin.  Keep it up!"

"Your nose looks so lean.   Do you pick different types of cardio to do, or do you just stick with one kind?"

"Your ears are shrrrredded.  What’s your bodyfat down to?  .2 percent?  .5 at the highest?"

Come on.  Show off the bod too.  Yes, you can see progress in your face, but that shouldn’t be ALL that is shown in all of your pics.   Don’t be so shy!

Breakfast:  oatmeal mixed w/ protein powder (26g prot)

milk (4g prot)

coffee

Snack:  turkey meatballs (40g prot)

Does blowing (your nose) count as cardio?

  2. ShanBL Says:

I like how you put that in parenthesis, LMAO.

I am one of those peeps..I can’t help it, it’s a work in progress as I’ve always been the shy person. I have posted a few other pics, of more than just my face, but the truth is I’ve been sooo busy here lately that taking the time to take more pics just hasn’t been too much of a priority. However i believe I have some progress to show, so I will try to give a pic that shows more than my swole lips (that was funny!)!!!

Guilty as charged. I will try to do better…and yes, i have been lifting heavy on nose days. It’s getting swole…Have a great one.

  5. 12weekhardbody Says:

Some people naturally have a swole nose…lucky bastards. They don’t have to work it at all.

Shan: You are the Erma Bombeck/Dave Berry/Doug Spiers (local guy) of the Bodyblog set. Pls let me know when you get this stuff into a book. I could get my Chrstmas shopping done for a number of family and friends. :-) Your stories about your gym creatures, etct just crack me up. My day is thrown off w/o a visit to the ShanBL blog.

My personal favorite facial workouts: Eye Batting & Tongue Lashes. You can hit it hard in good moods or bad. Least favorite: Nose Hair Removal & Ear Hair Removal. Darn, I have to do these more as I get older.

  8. BePrecise Says:

I agree with beekpr1…good point and way to call people out!

  9. fitclubmom Says:

Hmmmm… you brought something interesting to my attention. I have been working out like a demon, have lost 15 pounds, gone down a clothing size, and leaned out in my face and not ONE person at my work has said a word about being able to see I’ve lost weight in my face or anywhere else. :-(

Oh, and I do only show my face in my profile picture, but my progress pictures show my results… for better or worse! lol

I’m with ya, Shannon! I’m not happy about my pics, but darn it, if I don’t take them and keep them in a central spot, what will I have later on to point at and be proud of?

The main reason is certain people (and I’m gonna start naming names), thing this is a MY SPACE website, and not for body building.

  12. kbyers01 Says:

My profile is my face, but my progress pics are all of me. Some people got burned posting their pics I think, thus only their face is shown now.

I never gain in my face or my fingers, so I’ve never had the pleasure of hearing "I can see it in your face" LOL

  13. usafhoney98 Says:

Funny stuff right here! I think everyone gets paranoid because people start pitching a fit because they are showing "too much of their bodies" on a BODYBUILDING site…ha! I swear, makes no sense to me…but what do I know?..

  14. ashleyannbarker Says:

hahaha omg i think you are the funniest chick on here haha…

  15. french_pedi Says:

omg your cheek bones are hoooog! your jaw line is chiseled yo!

  16. bradl Says:

Lip-ups with a weighted lip belt are the BEST.

  17. bradl Says:

How about a weighted fish hook?

Actually, I came back because I’m one with just a head shot in the profile picture. I have full body shots in my progress pictures, so I’m not directly what you wrote about here.

I have that head-shot picture up because I can’t see posting a muscle shot when I don’t have the muscles of a male bodybuilder. "Look what muscles I have". I don’t think so.

  18. Veronique Says:

I think your face changing counts as progress too. Especially if it’s a dramatic change.

My progress is reflected in the numbers/charts of my progress section. Anyone who is really interested in that can check it out there.
