Day 5 again - Gimp
I did legs yesterday for the first time following Shannan’s routine. Oh yeah….I’m hurting today.
The boys are up bright and early this morning and one of them changed the channel on TV while the other was watching a show, so the other one starts screaming and wouldn’t let up. I yell from the other room to knock it off. Oh man, I didn’t want to have to get up.
The fighting wasn’t letting up. My threat of "Don’t make me go in there!" didn’t work
But they were driving me mad already at 7 a.m. so I rush in, gimp-style, to the other room….OY!….Oy!…and bent down to take the remote from the one who had it….OY!…..and changed the channel back and took the remote with me.
Today will be a little rough. But I’ll survive. I know I’ll be less and less sore with each session.
It’s supposed to be "cheat" day today, but I’m not going to cheat. It took me a week to recover from cheating last weekend and it’s not worth seeing my progress held back. Who knows where I’d be this week if I hadn’t had those couple of cheat days. While I won’t be following the diet Shannan gave me, I’ll still stick with on-limit foods.
Breakfast: 2 whole eggs, 2 egg whites
whole wheat toast
couple of cups of coffee w/ skim
Snack: 10 almonds
5 or 6 dried apricots
Lunch: lean turkey pattie (9 grams of fat! Where do they get off saying it’s lean on the packaging?) I had a bun sandwiching it, then remembered my 30 day challenge, so I put it back.
banana (wanted rice, but husband ate it all….)
Snack: almonds
apple
Another snack: more almonds
Yet another snack: ground turkey
Oh yeah…one more snack: apple
Dinner: Crappy salmon from a restaurant that I only took a couple of bites from
1 fried ravioli
asparagus

Welcome to the wonderful world of DOMS! You’ll come to love that feeling. FWIW while not cheating don’t be afraid to up the good carbs a lil’ today - your legs will thank you. Also, the next day before Leg Day do the same thing - have just a lil’ more of those or a different variety (brown rice, sweet potato, etc). I find it helps me during the workout. Think of it as an excuse to have some brown rice sushi!

Oh, gotta love the DOMSy days… The worst is when its the calves! Try a hot epsom salt soak and see if that helps loosen them up and recover a bit.
